I have said almost everything there is to say about Thierry and Yolaine's wonderful hotel in previous reviews but it just seems to get better with every visit. If you are in the area of Saumur you'd be mad not to stay there.

Room Tip: 3 trips 3 different rooms - all different, all huge and super comfortable.

Four of us were in the Loire Valley looking at property and I booked the Saturday night here purely on the strength of the reviews. In fact we drove an extra 40 miles out of our way just to stay here.. and we weren't disappointed one bit.

The chateau is in the town proper, in a residfential street about 5 mins walk form the centre and entry is through large steel gates. The top of the building can be glimpsed from outside, but not much more which makes the first impressions (after you use the entryphone to announce your arrival) all the more special. As we drive in, there is our hostess Yolande coming down the grand steps to greet us and show us to our parking space.

She and her husband are the most charming people you might wish to meet, fluent in English and just delighted to have you stay with them.

It was so like coming home - quite bizarre.

The grounds are quiter extensive and the pool is large and well appointed. The rooms, of course, are beautiful.

I fully endorse what has been said 100 times before by other reviewers.

Two tips for anyone planning a visit here:
Check whether your rate includes breakfast. Ours did not and at 15 euros it added a chunk onto the price. Not unreasonable, but not expected and my fault for not checking in advance.

Book early, like many others this chateau has limited accommodation. There are only around 6 rooms and all are very different which adds to the charm. However, the larger ones are preferable if you can get one.

Finally, the acid test. Would we go back? In a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Book early.

My husband and I stayed in Room Romantique for 2 nights and it seriously wasn't long enough. The Chateau De Verrieres is such a beautiful chateau with such wonderful, warm hosts that we wished we had more time to soak up the decadence and hospitality.

Our room was very large with a glorious aspect out over the garden, and our bathroom was spacious, with a great bath. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds we found in a month of French accommodation, very restful. The gardens were exquisite, the pool a relaxing oasis and the centre of town only a short walk away.

Breakfast was very good, varied, fresh and tasty and the other guests were very pleasant.

Would stay here again in a heart beat (but for longer next time).

Room Tip: All the rooms look beautiful, the Room Romantique is a lovely room.

My wife and I, along with our two friends spent a wonderful weekend at this beautiful Chateau. Our expectations were all met and exceeded in every way. The bedrooms are large, comfortable and furnished in beautiful period furniture. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Thierry and Yolande could not have been more friendly and helpful, suggesting and booking restaurants, bringing drinks to us as we lounged by the pool. It was difficult to leave, but we will be back.

Stunning decor and warm hospitality greets you upon arriving here. You feel like royalty wandering through the spacious rooms, tastefully decorated yet warm and inviting. The owners are so friendly and unpretentious, happily suggesting things to do, making reservations, etc.
Our room on the 2nd floor was flooded with natural light and views of the Saumur castle. Despite all the interesting places Saumur has to offer, just relaxing in our expansive room overlooking the gardens was time well spent.
