We found ourselves in Saumur looking for a specific vineyard. The Logis Le Chai de la Paleine is in a really small village, with just a bakery, tourist information office, 2 restaurants and a small bar. The hotel is beautiful. It is set in its' own land, and offers night gazing huts, small out buildings, trampoline, balls and racquets but with enough space for those seeking solitude. The room that we stayed in was upstairs in the main building. There, the rooms come out into a large communal lounge. There is also a small kitchen with all the basic cooking and utility equipment. Our room was compact but lovely, with tea making and French TV.
The host was so lovely. Breakfast each morning was beautiful and plentiful with home made preserves, croissants, bread, cheeses, numerous fruits etc.More
