“Reasonable price for a good hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

We booked this hotel for three nights to visit some of the chateaux in the Loire. It is very centrally situated in Saumur, close to the old quarter, with lots of good shops and restaurants. There is hotel parking, but apparently you have to pre-book it, which we didn't know, so we just drove into it - but with great difficulty! The entrance is extremely narrow and we managed to gouge the side of our car on a large steel bolt. Then we found out the car park was full, so we had a damaged car for nothing! However, there is a car park a few minutes walk away, which is cheap and convenient. The hotel staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful - the owner Francois, in particular, went out of his way to recommend, and book, two restaurants for us, both of which were superb. The room, though on the small side, had been recently refurbished and was well decorated.. There was no air-conditioning in our room, but there was an electric fan which was very efficient. I believe some rooms do have a/c. The breakfasts are tasty and more than adequate to start the day, and reasonably priced at 9 euros. We would certainly stay there again, and would recommend it to our family and friends.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel would probably be quieter.

This was an overnight stop on the way south.
I tried to book via the website but it didn't work correctly so had to email and eventually phone.
a very central location with car parking but that must be booked in advance. Very close to shops restaurants and tourist attractions however it is on a very busy road it was a hot night and far too noisy to have the window open there was aircon but I am not a fan.
The Room was classed as a superior room it was clean fairly basic but fine for 1 night, bathroom behind strange lourve doors like a cupboard good shower though. We had a good breakfast in a very quirky dining room. But if you want something different in a great location this is it.

Room Tip: Lots of road noise if you open the window

Checked in on a hot muggy day, only to find that the room I had booked did not have any air-conditioning. After some negotiation, was moved to a room with AC, which was not only cooler, but also larger, brighter, and more tastefully decorated.

The room was large, with nice white linens, the shower and tub were clean and elegant. Good quality TV. The coffee maker was the one item that was really hard to operate.

The couple that ran the hotel are friendly and caring. Due to some confusion, we were provided by a complimentary breakfast, which was fairly basic. Not worth the 8-10 Euros it typically costs.

Saumur turned out to be a cute town, with easy access to other parts of Loire.

Room Tip: Choose a room with AC.

We stayed here only one night passing through the area and wished we stayed longer. The apartment style room we had was wonderful!! It was clean, fresh, updated, spacious and exactly what we were looking for - the Ayers Rock room - sleeps 4/5 people. Perfect location for walking anywhere you want to go.
Not for travelers, there is no lift/elevator and it is a serious hike up the stairs, be aware!

We stayed on 22 May, hotel is easy to find and in a good location. Easy walking distance to a variety of shops and restaurants. A friendly & helpful reception desk.
Our room was small but had all that we needed. Shabby chic decor but clean & tidy. Facing onto the street proved a little noisy early morning when the road sweeper went past.
Wifi is free. The shower room had enough towels for 2, a fixed hair dryer & 1 bottle of bath gel. Secure private parking available for 5 euros, worth having in my opinion. It's quite a small car park at the back of the hotel so I'd recommend you reserve a space unless you want to park for free on the side of the road.

From the time I booked this hotel direct on line for an Easter break I recieved very quick responses to emails and had a good feeling about the hotel.

I asked for recommendations of restaurants too which were provided to me.

On arriving at the hotel the checking in process was very quick and friendly, the receptionist even helped us carry our luggage to our rooms.

We were travelling with friends for an Easter treat so we booked two of the better rooms.

Ours was Cadre Noir which faced the street, not too noisy, nice and clean a good size bath room with bath and shower over the bath.

Our friends were in the family room, their room also faced the street, theirs was bright and slightly larger than ours but their bathroom was much smaller with only a shower.

There is no bar at the hotel so we took some champagne with us and asked if we could borrow some glasses they actually asked what we were drinking and gave us champagne glasses and a bucket of ice too, we were all very impressed and they did this for 2 nights for us, no corkage charge and all done with a good spirit.

Brekfast was your typical French style and was served in a bright and airy room.

Parking at the hotel is very secure (not undercover though) and not far at all from the hotel.

There is no lift at this hotel so may be not ideal for everyone.

All in all a great hotel right in the centre of Saumur very close to the shops and restaurants, I would certainly return to this hotel and have no hestiation in recommending it to anyone.

Lovely market on a Saturday selling everything all through the streets, great atmosphere.

We dined at La Gambetta, L'Escargot and L'Achimiste - would recommend each of them.

Hope to return Le Londres

We live in the region and wanted to enjoy a dinner with friends without worrying about driving home so booked in to the Londres. Our room was clean and bright with crisp bed linen and a decent shower as well as a separate loo. We opted for the parking spot that is available on reservation for 5€ a night - it's off-street and secure. The breakfast room is spotless and there is plenty of choice. Service was smiley and attentive from start to finish. All in all, excellent value for money and we would return.
