We were made to feel most welcome and at home by the owners John & Yvonne. They could not do enough for us from the moment we expressed an interest in the property. We have a 10 month old baby and before we had even booked the accommodation the owners had purchased a travel cot and a stair gate. They were helpful, kind and considerate hosts. We had fruit, wine, bread and preserves waiting for us on arrival. They even offered to babysit while we had a night out!
The gite is brand new and tastefully renovated. It is modern and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a home away from home, essential when travelling with a baby.
The location was peaceful, tranquil, relaxing and very picturesque. Access to local towns and villages was easy by car. Segonzac and the nearest supermarket: a few minutes drive, Cognac: 20 minutes drive, Angouleme: 45 minutes drive and around a 90 minute drive to the coast. There are also several restaurants within the area.
I cannot fault our experience of the accommodation, area, service or amenities.
I hope we will return for another fabulous holiday in this beautiful part of the world.

This is a really lovely place. The English owners John and Yvonne are friendly and helpful and know the area very well. The house is simple yet incredibly comfortable and nicely designed. There are lots of thoughtful touches like two welcoming bottles of wine (one red, one white), towels for the pool, and fly screens on the windows.
The upstairs living area and kitchen are all beautifully set out. There is a small terrace outside the door where we ate, read, had a glass of wine, or just chatted and enjoyed the view over the vine fields. A big cherry tree creates dappled shade as the day goes on. Downstairs in the house the bedroom is cool with a modern shower room next door. Outside the downstairs level there is a lovely sunny garden with barbecue. The shared pool is a few steps away from the building and was brilliant for leisurely swims and sunbathing.
John and Yvonne live in the house in the grounds but you can be very private or not as you wish.
The area has lots to explore with river trips and distilleries etc and John and Yvonne have plenty of tips for restaurants and places to visit. There is a supermarket in the nearby village as well as bakeries and even a tourist information office.
We had to drag ourselves away from this idyllic retreat.
