“Love Love Love this hotel- fab outdoor pool in a city centre hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2012

We stayed here last month for the last night of our holidays. We choose the premier room , and were provided with luxury dressing gowns, and had an out door balcony which had steps leading down to the outdoor pool. The pool was not 100% the cleanest , however it was great to have a swim after our cycling and sunbathing. The breakfast was very tasty , with plenty of choice. On arrival at the hotel we were met with very friendly efficient staff. Unfortunately the bed was two singles posing as a double, it was comfortable, however it wasn't quite a double bed . Great location.

Comfortable, friendly, helpful and well-situated hotel in La Rochelle. Breakfasts good, small outdoor pool is a bonus. Shopping in La Rochelle is good, and the Aquarium just down the road is really fantastic - has a really good and reasonably priced restaurant (not canteen, proper restaurant) too. The tour of the towers is also a good way to spend time. Street entertainers along the marina in the evenings. Felt safe, but watch your wallet if you are watching entertainers (as you would anywhere, of course!). Easy bus journey plus shortish walk from airport if you are reasonably fit. La Rochelle is an eco (city?) and has a bike rental scheme.

Room Tip: Overlooking pool is quieter.

La Rochelle is a great destination but is not blessed with great hotels. From choice I would probably suggest staying out of town. However this isn't practical without a car or an understanding of the efficient but quirky public transport system.

This hotel has been taken over and renovated recently. The room we had overlooking the pool was quite small but pleasant with a small balcony and extremely comfortable bed.

The pool was lovely with a suntrap terrace. There were a lot of English guests when we were there.

We didn't have breakfast which I believe is the usual continental and I am gluten free. It seems expensive at 12€ each.

My only real complaint is that the hotel has losy wifi. If this doesn't matter to you then it's a wonderful base for the town, but unfortunately we stayed there for one night rather than the house we have rented in the area as we needed a good Internet connection for a very important meeting. To ensure we had this we visited the hotel a week ahead and checked out the public areas, the staff wouldn't let us check a room but assured us it was the same quality. It wasn't, in fact it was rubbish. The manager visited our room several times and assured us no one else complained, something that we discover from other residents was untrue as he two we spoke to both experienced problems. In the end the meeting was a disaster and we have had to book a room elsewhere, leaving us with more expense and making us look incompetent to our client. Did the management care? Not really, they offered us a discount of about £25, nothing compared to the cost and inconvenience we have incurred.

As I said, the hotel is actually lovely, the Internet rubbish and the management soso.

Room Tip: Other visitors had complaints about their rooms. One said very poky, the other was street front and...

A well situated, clean hotel with an excellent breakfast buffet.
The biggest selling point was the friendliness of the staff. Nice little lounge to have a drink.
Not fancy, not brilliant. Adequate and efficient. Just not memorable.

La Rochelle has a surprising amount of dog toting alcoholic/homeless types. The kind who feel threatening, but who probably aren't.
Also a surprising amount of stag and hen groups!

Room Tip: Pool area for quiet. At front for view but with noise. It is a port.

My niece and I spent a delightful week in La Rochelle and were delighted with the hotel. It wasin a wonderful situation for getting around. The bedroom was so comfortable and homely and the breakfasts were simply delicious. Thhe only disappointment was the there was no longer a fish restaurant in the establishment. Something that we were both looking forward to.

Room Tip: We were allocated rm342 from where we had a wonderful view of the swimming pool and which was very q...

I thought this hotel was great, especially for the price. One bit of advice - I did not get a room with a "view". My room faced the pool and was very quiet. Some in my group that got rooms facing the street complained of noise at night - I did not have that problem at all.
I would stay here again. The place was neat and clean and the hotel staff was helpful, friendly and all around amazing.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, ask for a room facing the pool
