“Spectacular exhibits but much more than natural history”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

This is a museum that seems to be in transition - please dont change any more of it - it has the old cabinet of curiosities room and Im led to beleive they have spent some time and effort modernising the display - please dot do any more as the modern rooms with few exhibits and lots of interpretation spoilt what could have been an even better place.
The title of the museum is natural history but this is mainly because of the stuffed animals, insects and shells - there is a lot of ethnography material from round the world that is quite spectacular and you would miss it if you didnt want to visit a natural history museum

“A place to visit”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

Well laid out and thought provoking. Probably needs 2 visits at least to take it all in. What was really amazing was the perfect condition of the specimens, many of which dated back to the 1700's.

“Terrific”
Reviewed 27 June 2013

It would be very easy to blow this off, but I wouldn't. It is located away from the Port area, and in the summer you wouldn't normally think of visiting a natural history museum, but the exhibits are uniformly excellent. It was fun. My wife and both liked it a lot. Children would find it interesting too. A great option for a rainy or cold day too. Not far from the Market and many nice shops.

“Rainy day gem”
Reviewed 22 February 2013 via mobile

We visited on the first Sunday of the month, so our admission was free. We were blown away! It far surpassed the natural history museum we had just visited in London a few weeks prior. The quality and impact of the exhibits exceeded our expectations. Take into account the small crowds, and we would visit again anytime (and pay full admission).

“Interesting”
Reviewed 22 November 2012

It's an interesting place, where you can pass a rainy morning or afternoon, even if you are with children. A lot of interesting things, including Zarafa, the first giraffe in europe, giant oysters, african masks and much more. However, this being france, the explanations are in French. And only in French. This is a serious mistake. And some places even this explanation was missing. Anyway, the visit was interesting, and the staff was polite.
