Stayed there 7 nights and really enjoyed the peacefulness and good views. It is 20 minutes walk along the seashore or through a park to get to the vieux port where there are loads of really good restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a large underground car park and we would recommend it without question.

We stayed here for two nights in late June and found it a prefectly acceptable three star hotel. No problems with cleanliness, comfort or staff, who were polite and efficient, and we do not appear to have suffered card cloning. It's about a 20 minute walk from the town along a pleasant route. Incidentally, it might be helpful for people thinkiing of staying here to know whether the two reports of card cloning relate to the same incident (as the details seem similar) or whether they are two quite separate allegations.

We recently stayed three nights here and would rate Hotel Les Brises as more two star than three star. The building itself looks a little shabby and the interior looks tired and in need of refurbishment. We found the staff (with the notable exception of an English speaking staff member, who was helpful and professional) surly and unhelpful - almost rude at times. We had reserved a "superior" room with balcony and sea view - the only superior thing about it was the sea view. The room itself was small - about 3.7m x 4.6m - and basically furnished. The separate lavatory was tiny - about 0.75m x 1.5m - and hence difficult for even an average sized person to use. The bathroom was OK but small with a barely effective over bath shower. The balcony was small - just adequate for two people to sit around the small table. To make matters worse, during our stay there was building work going on in the property next door - making it almost impossible to sleep beyond 8 a.m. and uncomfortable to stay around the hotel during the day. We paid 130€ per night with breakfast (in our opinion a very poor quality buffet and hence we only took breakfast in the hotel on one morning) being an additional 13€ per person. This was by far the poorest value for money we experienced during our three week visit to France. As we plan to visit La Rochelle again later this year, we researched and visited other hotels in the town during our stay and found hotels offering a better standard of accommodation and service at the same or slightly lower rates.
As regards location, Les Brises is about a thirty minute (pleasant) walk to the town centre. There is off-road parking and an underground car park.
Overall, we would rate this hotel as "poor" rather than "bad" but would nevertheless hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Stayed here last month for one night, was supposed to be 3 nights but was unable to tolerate being treated like a second class citizen by the breathtakingly rude and arrogant staff so checked out early.

Room was dirty, sheets were stained and entering the bathroom was like stepping back through time into an era before cleaning products. I'm glad I paid cash because judging by the other reviews on here the staff are operating some kind of credit card cloning operation.

If you are looking for a mid-range hotel in this area of La Rochelle with a reasonable price, a clean place to sleep and at at least a satisfactory level of customer service, do yourself a favour, hit the back button and select another hotel from the list.

we stayed at this hotel for 1 night with our 2 year old, room had a lovely sea view & spacious (WE BOOKED A SUPERIOR ROOM). We walked into the town of La Rochelle which was about 30 min walk, worth a walk as there are lovely parks on the way. Would stay here again.
