We mainly chose this hotel as it had parking available and was not too far from the main centre. We were surprised at how good it was. The hotel is located on what feels like a business park/industrial estate but there are other hotels on the same road, eg Ibis. It's an easy 10-15 minute walk into La Rochelle where there are lots of bars/cafes/restaurants.

The hotel seemed quite new and was very clean, modern and bright looking. There was plenty of parking and the gates were locked after 10pm (security code to gain access is required).

The rooms were a decent size, modern and brightly decorated as was the bathroom. Everything felt new and the public areas were airy. The room even had tea/coffee making facilities which is quite unusual in European hotels and not usually available.

The bed was very comfortable and although our room faced the road we didn't get any road noise at all.

Breakfast was an optional extra at €9.50 per person per night. We didn't try it as you could get breakfast in the town for around €6 per person. However, it looked reasonable when we had a look to see what was on offer.

I would definitely recommend and this was probably one of the best hotels we booked during our tour around France.

I stayed here with a friend for two nights whilst visiting friends in La Rochelle. First impression was that the hotel was a little further from the town centre than expected. Yes it's a walkable distance, but, it's not ideal if you are planning on walking back late at night especially as young girls like us. We made good use of the buses that ran every 20 mins or so from a stop a short walk from the hotel directly into the town centre.

The hotel is situated beside a main road, we were also allocated a room on this side but the noise didn't bother us too much and with the window closed we slept extremely well. The room was a little cramped but this was expected for a hotel designed for short stays. It was however very clean and the bathroom was modern and pristine with a pleasantly large shower. We paid extra for the breakfast which was rather average - I think €9.60 is a little overpriced.

Check in and check out were ran quickly and smoothly. Staff were friendly but I was surprised that the reception shut at 9pm. The gates at the entrance of the hotel also shut at 9pm so you need to get an access code if you are planning on leaving/returning late at night as we did.

All in all the hotel didn't have much character but was adequate for a short stay. However if I were to return to La Rochelle I would probably book a hotel closer to the town centre as the only downside to our stay was having to get to and from the main attractions of La Rochelle.

Good place to stay, a little bit out of the city center but a simple 15 min walk puts you right in the center of La Rochelle.

We had a room on the top floor at the end of the hallway, we could hear some (maybe 3 or 4 during or 2 nights) trains passing by but that was the only thing and it didn’t prevent us from getting any sleep. The rooms have a silent airco and a simple but good bathroom. Staff was helpful and most of them could speak a little bit of English.

Breakfast (~10 euro) is simple but good with plenty of choices.

Would stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for one night (a Sunday).

We arrived by train in La Rochelle and it toook us about 15 minutes to walk. The next day we walked to the town centre and harbour and that took just over 20 minutes.

The hotel is situated along a busy road - although we never heard any traffic noise.

Our room was on the ground floor - located at the end of a corridor. The room was spotlessly clean - but the first thing that hit us when we opened the door was the smell of damp - although there were no visible signs.

The shower room was large, clean and modern with a huge walk in shower. It had a hair dryer.

The room had a kettle and tea / coffee facilities.

We payed an extra 9.60 Euros each for breakfast whilst at the hotel. It consisted of the ususal baguettes, ham, cereals, milk, cheese, croissants etc.

The receptionist also looked after the breakfast room and sometimes there was a delay once things had run out before she got around to replenishing them. We did notice a toaster - but there was no bread to toast.

Was expecting a normal budget hotel so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel itself and the room, which had excellent air conditioning. Plenty of parking and only 15 minute walk into the centre. Breakfast was good and restaurant and outdoor seating area very pleasant

the hotel is verry clean, but is quite basic,as for being in the center ,it is not, we chose it because reviews of la rochelle said the town is quite noisy at night, we did not find it particularly noisy in september after about 10 pm,so i suggest there are better and cheaper options in town
,it is not a really long walk to the harbour but it is an unessesary one,it is rated as a 2 star in la rochelle

We stayed in the Kyriad for 3 nights in the middle of July. It was a lovely hotel, clean, friendly and breakfast (self service) was good. It's only a 10-15 minute walk to the La Rochelle centre and on Bastille night that paid dividends - not having to worry about parking. Rooms were average size but had all the facilities you need - tea/coffee/kettle, wifi, etc.

Would recommend the Kyriad.
