If you really wish to feel that you are at home, in a capacious apartment with luminous white walls, thick wall to wall carpeting, absolute quiet punctuated by the cooing of doves in the morning, this is the right place. We stayed for all of eleven nights in the Residence side of the establishment and were never disappointed, save by an electric burner in the kitchen that defaulted and was immediately replaced. Beautiful lobby to enjoy an aperitif by the fireplace, friendly staff, very professional, and thorough housekeeping every day, at an hour to your convenience, you have the combination of hotel services with all the space and leisure of a private apartment. This is the fourth time we have stayed here and have never been disappointed. In addition, the area is very central, just a five minute stroll from the market, near all the nice cafés. All in all, a place I recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for the third floor upwards for the view.

One of the worst experiences we have had at a hotel. We paid quite a bit for the room in this hotel which claims to be a 5 star. At best this is a 3 star hotel and that too a 3 star hotel in Paris and if someone has been to a Paris hotel would know what I mean. Just to give a few examples of the problems we had:
A. The staff: The people behind the reception had no idea about where to go or what to expect in La Rochelle or in ile de re. The lady especially kept on directing us to the table next to the elevator which had a huge number of brochures and flyers with all kinds of advertisements for different establishments in the area. When we checked in, we were told the parking was full and this was understandable as we booked a day before. But what followed was extremely unprofessional. They told us there was a public parking nearby and gave us completely wrong directions. It took us 1 hour to find the place. Also, we had some big bags and there was no offer to help. they seemed to be in a hurry to get rid of us and told us the elevator was at the back and then moved on to other things they seemed to be vey busy with. Finally, when we were checking out in the morning, we were told that the credit card machine was not working and the only option to pay was either cash or cheque. We were running late for a tour and I had to rush out to the nearest ATM to get cash to pay. We almost missed the tour and the whole experience was very stressful.
B. The rooms: the shower had rust on it, water pressure was an issue and it seemed like it was not allowed for people to sleep after 8 am. There was a lot of noise in the corridors and on the floor which woke us up every morning. Also, while we had a no smoking room, there was a constant smell of smoke, it seemed like someone was smoking on the floor and it permeated into our room. And the bed, it was a disaster, seemed to be a spring bed with no base, I think I threw my back by the end of the stay!!

Dear Sir,
We would like to apologize for the very bad experience you and your family have been going through during your stay.
Would you mind to get in touch with us by email to give us your name, so we can check your appartment and have a staff meeting about what happened.
Everything seemed to get wrong. We are truly sorry for that.
We ensure you it's an uncommon situation for us also.

As soon as we get your email we will refund you for your entire stay.

Very best regards.

We use to stay there in La Rochelle, and once again it was a good time. We had an apartment and then we could have breakfast and small diners in the room. The place is quiet and at the same time in the center of the city, near the central market. Rooms are well equipped, modern furniture, and have been restored recently. There is a large bar with interesting decorum mix of old antics and new furniture, a friendly bar. Convenient parking place and swimming pool for summer times.

Room Tip: Nice rooms also in the main building

Good size room, large bed, good bathroom and nice and clean. NOTE: This hotel does NOT have A/C so if you travel in warm weather.. be warned. We stayed one night and it was perfectly acceptable. Good service and clean room.

Room Tip: Don't stay here in the summer!

we stayed at one of the apartments within this hotel complex for a few days in october 13. the hotel is very well placed for visiting la rochelle, within walking distance of the port but quiet and on a very elegant street. the hotel is somewhat dated but pleasant. the apartments are simple in nature but comfortable. the staff are pleasant and very helpful.

First impressions fairly good. Staff seemed helpful, bar area and lounge lovely, pool area as described by others tiny. Room just about ok, scruffy inside and dated. However we had a major problem with our room (plumbing issue) and whilst we moved rooms which was very annoying and inconvenient no one apologised, asked us if the new room was ok. Even at checkout staff were completely clueless on how to deal with our complaint (including management) There were lots of down and outs hanging about outside the hotel which made leaving and returning to hotel unpleasant. Far nicer hotels elsewhere in La Rochelle to stay....

This hotel is located in a lovely central part of la Rochelle - just off Rue Chaudrier which runs down to the port - shopping heaven for those inclined - with a refined mix of cosmopolitan culture and French chic on display from beautiful retained architecture, French café frontages, to an eclectic mix of local circumstances. The streets are meticulously tidy, there are not only doggy bins, but doggy bags on a roll above! There are also signs of current economics with quite a few homeless folk, but seemingly little ill feeling between those with and those without.

The restaurants are broadly split between value focussed enterprises along the yacht marina front, and the mostly high quality restaurants up the pedestrianised Cours des Dames. Around £25 per for a three course dinner plus drinks - wine is reasonable, watch out for aperitifs. We had four dinners between three restaurants, sitting outside watching life and enjoyed every meal.

The hotel is a smartly presented - almost boutique style on entrance. We stayed in one of two 'apartments' with a terrace overlooking the (tiny) pool, meaning we could catch a little early evening sun and enjoy a nightcap outside when returning from dinner. There is a bedroom with a double bed, a lounge area with a bed/sofa, and a fridge. Generally nicely furnished, but with a few issues - not 5*. The double bed is tiny. There is no proper shower, but a bath with a showerhead - no curtain. The bar closes at 11pm - and I've had better breakfasts in France than this at a fairly steep £14 per person (our thirteen year old daughter loved it..). Front of house is friendly and helpful, and service OK. If you have a car you must book a space at the hotel as there is no other option nearby.

Notwithstanding the above, if you want a nice hotel in good location with facilities for a small family, in a lovely part of France, this is a good option.

Room Tip: The hotel description on their website don't properly explain the apartment set up. There are t...
