“Fabulous apartment in La Rochelle”

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in La Rochelle, you'd like a lovely view of the sea in a pristine, modern apartment, and you want somewhere in a quiet neighbourhood that is close to the centre, then look no further.

We had a fantastic stay here and would love to go back.

The apartment is well located - a scenic 20 minutes walk into town (or 10 minutes by bike) where all the tourist attractions are, and only 10 or so minutes walk (in the other direction) from a supermarket, butcher and baker (again, quicker by bike, although it is slightly uphill on the way there). Only a couple of hundred metres away is Cafe La Corniche, which is a good place to grab a coffee and take in the view of the sea.

The owners, Patrick and Elisabeth are so welcoming and thoughtful, it was like we were family, and I cannot praise them enough.

There is helpful information provided in the apartment so that you can make the most of your stay (bus timetables/ details of attractions and so on). The apartment itself was lovely - a big bedroom with walk in wardrobe, a shower room (great water pressure in the shower), a well equipped kitchen (with an excellent coffee machine) and modern living area. The TV is in the bedroom (you can't see it from the photos), although we didn't use it because we were able to watch Netflix on our tablet using the wifi that is provided. There is no washing machine at the apartment, but this was not a problem for a short break like ours.

We loved La Rochelle and the fact that you can get around so easily by bicycle: there are plenty of bicycle paths right from the apartment. We did a day trip to St Martin de Re using the bus service from the Train Station, and we loved the Segway excursions.

We hope to be able to return in the not too distant future.

“Beautiful apartment, perfect position, lovely owners”

We had the most wonderful 4 days at this apartment recently - it is very modern - fantastic décor and design, spotlessly clean, a well-stocked kitchen and an easy 10 minute walk into town. The private parking is definitely a bonus as parking is difficult in town. The use of the 2 bicycles was especially welcome - La Rochelle is very cycle-friendly with lots of dedicated cycle paths. Do take a trip over to Ile de Re (you can drive/cycle over the bridge, cars are charged at 16 euros for return trip) - it's absolutely beautiful and again very cycle-friendly. Also the new aquarium in La Rochelle is definitely worth a visit. Patrick and Elisabeth were so helpful , giving us lots of local information. Many thanks, we are looking forward to returning soon .( And thank you to the writer of the earlier review - on the basis of which we booked the apartment!)

“An absolute gem”

Let me start by saying that I don't usually write reviews. Something has to be extremely good (or bad) to get me to post something. In the case of 'Appartement T2' in La Rochelle, I am inspired to write something because I had an absolutely spectacular stay from start to finish.

First off - what lovely hosts. Patrick and Elisabeth were the perfect combination of welcoming and helpful (a ride from the airport, champagne in the fridge, and insights into things to do in la Rochelle) and at the same time I never felt crowded or watched, which can be the case in some holiday rentals.

The flat itself was gorgeous. Beautiful deck which made the inside living space feel large and open, not to mention a great space to eat breakfast, watch the local sailing school, or soak up the sunset with a glass of wine. The bed was firm - perfect - and nights were quiet . Lots of space for storing away clothes, suitcases, etc. Kitchen was great. I love to cook and every time I got to the point where I thought they might not have something I needed (crab cracker, Tupperware, ice cream scoop....) it would be right there in one of the cupboards.

I had to do a bit of work while I was there and I couldn't have asked for a better spot to do it. Good WiFi, great jazz on the iPod, and sliding blinds on the deck to ensure that I could always see my screen no matter how sunny it was.

I really liked the location. I'm a runner and I was right on a great ocean path for jogging. Also it's close enough to the old port for an easy walk or bike, but isn't smack in the middle of the tourist hustle and bustle.

If I had a complaint, which I don't, but just so it is clear this is an unbiased review, I will write about the one thing I might adjust a little: the amount of artefacts and objects on display. While it actually made the space way nicer than any impersonal hotel, it did have me a bit worried that I might end up knocking and breaking something when placing my own things. But, I really had to dig deep for this wee concern and I think it rather underlines what a lovely stay it was.

I wholeheartedly recommend this apartment and hope to be back myself!
