“Convenient, modern hotel in Aix”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

We spent a night here as part of a group of four; the hotel accommodated us in adjacent rooms with a small shared corridor. It's a modern hotel in an older building, and as such, the rooms have different layouts. Our room was average for a European hotel, but the bathroom was extremely narrow.

The hotel has parking next door, as well as one space right out the front to drop off or collect bags. The staff were polite and helpful, and were able to recommend local restaurants and sights of interest. There's an 'honour' bar in the main reception area, which we didn't use, and the lobby itself is spacious. When we were being shown through the hotel on arrival, the staff member who did so said the breakfast buffet was "really good". He then said, "I know I'm meant to say that, of course, but it really is very good". And indeed he was right - the breakfast spread is an excellent continental spread as well as a few items cooked on request, that can be eaten inside or in the courtyard. There's a small exercise room with a few pieces of cardio equipment. We didn't have any major issues with the wifi.

The hotel is located just outside the historic core of Aix, which makes is good for those with a car: your GPS won't go crazy trying to get you to the front door of the hotel. You won't need your car to explore Aix once you've arrived, however, as the entire old town is within a short walking distance.

We stayed at hotel Cezanne for one night. The hotel is perfectly located to visit the Old Aix by foot. Once we parked our car, we never used it again until leaving the next day. This is a charming and trendy hotel with an efficient and friendly staff. Our bedroom on the 1st floor was clean, quiet, well furnished with a comfortable queen-size bed and a large bathroom. We experienced neither the restaurant for diner, nor the breakfast in the room since hotel Cezanne is surrounded by a multitude of wonderful places to eat on the Cours Mirabeau or in the back streets of the old town. The only inconvenience of this hotel was a very antiquated and erratic wifi service at the time of our stay. Besides this minor issue (for us), we can highly recommend this charming hotel.

Room Tip: For those of you who need wifi services, it is preferable to check first with the front desk which r...

Dear Guests,

It was a real pleasure to read your positive comments and thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor.
You were kind enough to praise the good hotel’s location, perfect for visiting Aix en Provence: shopping, museum, fountains, famous "Cours Mirabeau", provencal market...
We look forward to welcoming you back, and thank you once again for your kind recommendation.

We stayed in the Cezanne only one night; it was quiet even though on a main street close to center city. The is an "honor bar" in the lobby stocked with Champaign, good wine and an array of the hard stuff. Very courteous and helpful staff. No pool but we had entree to the Rue Mazarine spa/boutique, a wonderful oasis amidst the rush of center city. Very relaxing. The staff directed us to a wonderful luncheon at Cote Cour, also an oasis on one of the little side streets - a must.

Hotel Cezanne is located just steps from the Cours Mirabeau in Aix. The lovely eclectic mix of art and furnishings gives the stay a whimsical feeling. The 2 bedroom suite is absolutely perfect for a family or group of friends. The restaurant is small, and there is no bar to speak of. The Hotel does offer a place to purchase a glass of wine or highball cocktail. It is close to the train station and the tourist office. The Casino is about 1 mile away also.

I have nothing but the highest praise for this hotel. Maxim, the wonderful concierge, took such good care of us from the second I ran into the hotel from our rented car panicking over where we could park in the narrow streets, to helping us with our bags by dashing up the stairs so he could be right there for us when the lift door opened, recommending restaurants to us and being so patient and hospitable. We even got upgraded which was such a wonderful touch. Location is great and cour mirabeau was within 5 mins walking distance. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, room was huge and clean and the bed was so comfortable. An extremely clean, chic, wonderful hotel. Breakfast was also delicious in the lovely terrace, of course, with 2 glasses of champagne in the morning, why not? I absolutely love this hotel, it made my experience in Provence so delightful and is a real gem. Thank you Maxim and your wonderful team.

Hotel Cezanne is nicely located just 5/10 minutes from Cours Mirabeau and the old centre of Aix-en-Provence with secure parking available. Very nice boutique hotel but it is relatively expensive for what it offers.

The hotel interior is in a modern bright decor. The rooms are nicely decorated and furnished if not large. We were offered an upgrade to a junior suite which was quirky mainly due to the need to plan the bedroom into an awkward space. It proved to have the advantage of being at the end of the corridor. Walls and floors are not fully soundproof (we could hear people in the adjacent bathroom) and the entry doors have a massive gap beneath them and have nil acoustic attenuation. This meant we heard everyone passing through the corridor or opening and shutting their guestroom doors. The corridor light illuminated the room beneath the door throughout the evening. This is a big problem. At this price the doors should be acoustic and light attenuated quality. Our adjacent guests wanted to leave early in the morning!!!

The bathroom had a nice decor but was small and awkward. The choice of fittings was obviously based on appearance rather than durability.

The breakfast was good and we had a free glass of champagne. However at the cost of the room, breakfast should be included in the cost and not charged extra. We ate in the rear courtyard which is nicely furnished and arranged with the hotel along two sides. It had an attractive fountain but it was devoid of vegetation and could not be described in any sense as a garden. To mitigate this one side is boarded with a long green leaf poster.

The courtyard shared with the hotel public rooms a sense of nice design but unfriendly to anything but a short visit before setting out into Aix.

The hotel offered Nespresso coffee at reception and in the corridor at each bedroom level. Nice touch.

The welcome is friendly and service was good.

If you book ahead of arriving there is secure private parking available. It is awkwardly placed a few steps along a side road from the hotel entrance where there is a small parking bay to unload your luggage. The reception will guide you to get to the entrance which involves a short round trip.

Room Tip: try to get room at end of corridors to reduce disturbance from corridor noise

Dear Guests,
Your stay in our hotel was not completely filled your expectations and we are sorry.
Our priority is the satisfaction of our guests and their well-being is very important to us.
We are delighted that you enjoyed our breakfast and we wish to precise that all the dishes prepared on the spot are included in the price of the buffet breakfast: truffle omelette, omelette with goat cheese and honey from Provence, "Benedict" eggs, pancakes ...
You also mentioned the quality of service; our staff ensures to always satisfy our customers with a service that is both professional and friendly.
We hope to see you again at the Hotel Cézanne and make you spend a pleasant time with us.

The hotel is good, 15 minutes walk from the train station (which if you have a lot of bags, with no taxi in the station and it's raining, it is not good). The room is confortable, and the shower is really nice. The only thing weird for me is that the toillet is in a separate room, but apparently this is normal in some places of France so... Staff are nice and the breakfast is really great.
