A very decent price for the quality of service.

The personnel is very friendly and always willing to assist.

The rooms in the new extension are quite wide, and very comfortable. Buffet for the breakfast is good, and the restaurant is good too.

Another advantage: though located closed to the highway, it is quiet, and only 2 minutes drive from the beautiful center of Aix-en-Provence.
There is also a swimming pool.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in new extension

It's a cheap hotel and ok for a short stop over if you are on your way to somewhere else. The food is ok but would recommend getting a bus to Aix for a euro as the food is much better there with a good selection of bars. If you are tall you might find the rooms a bit cramped.

We spent two nights at this hotel. It's near the highway so is a good location if you want to use it as base for exploring the area. Parking is free and there are a lot of spaces. The room was clean but kind of small (normal for Ibis hotels). The staff was friendly and gave us valid information on how to reach the city center with public transport. The bus stop is next to the hotel, in about 10 min you reach the city center (stop is Victor Hugo, rotonde).

We stayed 4 nights at the Ibis Aix-en-Provence as a base to explore the Provence region back in November 2013. Besides the positive reviews on Trip-Advisor we chose this hotel because of the free parking and the price (we booked last minute so the other alternatives were much more expensive). We had a car so the non-central location of the hotel was not an issue for us.

The good:

- Staff were very friendly. They would greet us every evening upon our arrival, and they were ultra-eficiennt with the check-in and check-out processes.

- The room was a nice surpise considering our expectations. The bed was comfortable and we had a baby cot as requested. One minor issue was that the cot was not properly assembled (one of the sides was not completely raised), and -even though it could still be used- we were worried that it wasn't completely safe. We asked for it to be fixed but hot personnel weren't able to do so.

- The room was very quiet (we had asked for a room facing the swimming pool) and the shutters were very good, and did not allow any light inside the room.

- The hotel's location is positive assuming you have a car and you want to drive around to visit other towns other than aix. It is only 10 min away from the city centre and at the same time it is near te highway that allows you quick access to other towns. If you want to go for dinner to the city centre a good alternative is to park in Parking La Rotonde, which has cheaper rates after 7pm (we never paid more than 2.5eur for the whole stay while we were dining).

The not-so good:

- The bathroom resembles an airplane toilet or the kind you find in some medium priced Tokyo hotels. It is completely pre-fabricated, made of plastic and extremely small. There were no toiletries, only a liquid that was soap/bath wash/ shampoo all in one. There was no space in the shower to put our own soap and shampoo. In addition, the door of the bathroom had to be shut by pulling it, which made a very loud noise (very inconvenient if you have a baby sleeping in the room). Finally, it must be pointed out that the soundproofing between bathroom and bedroom was very bad.

- The free wifi internet worked fine for mails/instant messaging, but it was a pain the fact that each time you need to enter your name, surname and email address to login.

In summary: I guess you cannot expect that much when you are paying 80 euros per night. However, when booking here it's important to bear in mind that you will have no safe, little wardrobe space, no electric water kettle, and no frills in general.

In the end it depends on what trip you are planning to make. In our case it worked well because we just went one day to Aix (and in the evenings for dinner) and we spent the rest of our trip visiting other towns and villages.

Room Tip: We requested a room facing the swimming pool, and it was very quiet

Stayed here one night on my way to www.trans-provence.com. Good value, good food and nice secluded pool. Secure parking. Friendly staff. Typical chain hotel dining but good food.

Very clean, modern, well kept.

Too far to walk to town though which is a shame as I never saw Aix...
