“Traditional cooking and a friendly atmosphere”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

This is a great value restaurant in a very expensive town - we were first to arrive for dinner but the little restaurant soon filled up. However the waiter still managed to find time to offer friendly and attentive service throughout the evening and was happy to explain any of the dishes that we couldn't translate. The 18 euro dinner menu has a good range of choices and I opted for octopus salad, confit of duck leg served with mashed potato and aubergine followed by creme brulee. The dishes were simple but well prepared and delicious - highly recommended for traditional French fare in a warm and friendly environment.

“An excellent value”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

The plat du jour was an excellent value with a delicious salad with sauteed mushrooms, duck confit and profiteroles. All were delicious and service was personal. Highly recommended; DK Eye Witness travel book was right.

“An excellent choice..........”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

We read about this place in a guide book, and decided we wanted to try the provencal cuisine, and went for dinner around 8 pm. The place is small and located in a small street, there were no other customers when we entered, but the place had filled up when we left. It has only about 30 seats, and there was porbably just one table with two chairs available when we finished !

The restaurant consists of a narrow room with tables on both sides, and one can see the little bar and beyond that the kitchen area at the end. There appeared to be only one young man attending to all the customers, and he was highly energetic and attentive in spite of the crowd . Very pleasant and patient service, and he made some very good suggestions on the menu too.

We found they do have a fixed price menu with a starter, main and dessert for just about 18 euros which I thought was brilliant value in a touristy place. We therefore chose to go for that option. Each course has a choice of four options, and for my starters I chose the grilled peppers being a vegetarian, while my colleague selected a grilled chicken option. Both arrived very swiftly, my grilled red pepper in a fine thin layer drizzled with olive oil and delicately spiced and flavoured and excellent. My colleague said his starter was great too.

The mains took a bit of time to arrive, but served always with great joy and pride. The chef had tried his best to create a vegetarian platter full of mixed vegetables including some spinach, potatoes, peppers, beans and carrots - I had specifically said no aubergine, mushroom or cheese. Considering the limitations the town itself had in general for vegetarians, I was pleased with this effort, particularly as it went quite well with some delicious bread. My friend had some white fish accompanied by vegetables and enjoyed it.

The pinnacle of the dinner was a very delicate mousse of citrus and almond and melon, very light on the stomach, not overly cloying or sweet, just perfect !

“Charming service and lovely food”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

Altogether a lovely evening experience at this little bistro. Perhaps a cold November night is not perfect for the ambiance here, with it's chilly Provençal tiles and very subtle lighting but no matter, the waiter more than made up for any lack of atmosphere - friendly, helpful, charming and clearly interested in food (nice change!). It was very much home cooking, but that was just right as were the portion sizes - not too large, given the superb value of 17€ for three courses. The winter squash and chestnut soup was a revelation - what a great combo! Nicely cooked filet of sea bass with Provençal veg and then a Speculos crème brûlée, with a demi pichet of wine - parfait! In a town with a plethora of restaurants trying to be authentic bistros this one actually succeeded in being the real deal.

“Great Value & Food. A real Find”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

We luckily found this gem hidden in the back streets and enjoyed a wonderful meal. I had the roasted peppers to start and they are the best ever. Everyone, 6 of us, enjoyed there meal. The 4 course meal was 17 euro, a real steal. Wine list was small but well selected and we enjoyed a bottle of red and white. There was only a waiter and the chef. When we entered no one was in the restaurant but it slowly filled up. The value here was wonderful. Every course a delight.
