“Enjoyable stay at Hotel du Globe”
Reviewed 17 August 2011

Hotel Du Globe is a budget hotel. We paid just 78 euros for a double room. It is a basic hotel but great location and the staff were very helpful and friendly people. Rooms are average but clean and fine for a couple of days. Free WiFi. We paid 10 euro more to park in the garage which was worth it as Aix is very busy. Breakfast is extra, we did not eat in the hotel though. There is a nice roof terrace on the 4th floor with rooftop views. There are many good restaurants, cafes, shops and sites on the doorstep. We would recommend the hotel for a short stay and Aix is a very nice city to visit.

The hotel had all basic requirements: clean, simple and accomodating. This was our last stay for our France trip, and served its purpose. The location is a selling point because attractions and restaurants are nearby. The boulevard was lined with trees and very typical french style. There were many student age adults enjoying nightlife!
Great rooftop terrace to grab breakfast: bright and sunny!

Stayed here as a single because other family were in a hotel with no room and I really won out. It was clean, air-conditioned and very convenient to busses and the town. The buffet breakfast had a good selection of French bits and there was no rushing to make room for others. The staff was friendly and available to give information about the town and the area. For those with a car it also had a garage. There was a roof garden with sun beds and a lift/elevator to make life easier. All together a great stay!

Located just a short stroll from several top Trip Advisor-rated restaurants including Le Formal and Pasta Cosy, the Hotel du Globe provides a standard of accommodation that seems to us well above its modest rating. Our updated rooms were a good size and were very clean, comfortable and bright. The air con worked well and was controlled by a simple digital touchpad. A delightful surprise was the refurbished roof terrace which offers lovely views. But it is the standard of service that really sets this hotel apart. My suitcase failed to appear on the carousel at Marseille MP2 and I was without it for the first three days of the stay. The very friendly Globe staff couldn't have been more helpful, and not just in recommending where I could buy temporary replacements for my missing stuff. I had prescription medicines in the case and they first organised the faxing of a prescription list from my GP back in England, and then they arranged an appointment for me with a nearby doctor. Meanwhile, the hotel's most sympa Directrice, Mme Chevalier (who has excellent English), called the airport several times to chivvy them about the missing case and then phoned me the moment it arrived in reception. How's that for service? The hotel may have an unremarkable exterior and I heard one guest complain of the small-ish lift, but in all the ways that count, the Hotel du Globe is a real gem.

We stayed at the hotel for one night while traveling between the Cote d'Azur and Provence. We used a GPS and located the hotel quite easily in the centre of the city. The parking garage was small but the very pleasant gentleman at the desk guided us in and parked the car for the night. If you are driving make sure you book one of the spaces before arrival and there is a charge for parking. The people at the front desk were very, very nice and were very helpful in directions to Cezanne's atelier and places for dining. We were on the third floor and we found our room to be small (we are in Europe and should expect that) but modern, well appointed with modern fixtures and very clean. It was well air conditioned but the windows opened for the cool evening breeze. It even had an electically controlled shutter to block out the light (although it was not necessary and we slept very well). There was a roof top terrace which could be used to have a glass of wine in the evening. The hotel is a 20 minute walk uphill (but not too bad) to the atelier de Cezanne and it is worth the trip. In the morning we took advantage of the breakfast which although pricey at 14 euros was pretty good and did allow us time for a short walk to the cour du Mirabeau before we left on the next leg of our trip. Once again the desk staff backed out the car and we were on our way. Our room was 80 euros and we were back on the A8 in about 20 minutes. I would certainly recommend the hotel and the city for a one night stay. ( A word of warning: one couple used an ATM close to the hotel and had their number and PIN stolen and as a result lost a great deal of money. They went to use a machine and were directed by a stander by to use another machine as the one they were using was "out of money". Should have been a clue.)

We liked the appearance and cleanliness of the rooms and hotel generally. The service was friendly and helpful, and staff can speak English. Breakfast was not expensive and there was an excellent choice of food. The hotel is located close to the centre of the Old Town, although it is 900m from the train station. We had a good sleep, and our window had an electric shutter. We would certainly stay there again.

the hotel was excellent in more than just few ways,
its cheap, but everything was just really nice, the room was big, clean, big bathroom, perfect location, just short walk to the center, quiet, basically - you name it, everything was perfect. stayed there 3 nights and i wish we could stay more.
There only reason i gave it a 4 points instead of 5, is that i found it a bit strange that while cleaning the room, they never seemd to wash the floor in the bathroom :/
