The Adagio is not quite a dump, but it's close. On the positive side: Location was near old town, and relatively convenient. We had a 1-BR unit, with LR, small, adequately equipped kitchenette, and a large bathroom with walk-in shower and separate WC. The shower was good. Storage space was generous. We had 2 TV's, a smaller one in the BR and a larger one in the LR. Wi-Fi in the room and the lobby was good. The courtyard off the lobby was enjoyable. Desk staff was usually helpful and responsive. The handyman was terrific!. Negative: we had to call for handyman services a lot. The TV signal was variable, and the BR TV got fewer stations than the LR TV. The BR was small, with only about 12-15" between the foot of the queen-size bed and the wall, so to get to the other side of bed, you had to shuffle/slide along the wall. BR a/c was non-existent. Ask for a fan if they have one available; it will help circulate the air. Mattress was not very comfortable. Lighting was poor - the photos online were staged with a lot of lighting, more lighting than we had in our unit, so don't be fooled. We did not have a comfy chair to sit/read in, as shown in online photos. Cleaning products used by chambermaids left an unpleasant smell in the corridors. Only one SLOW elevator, used by cleaning staff to remove trash and soiled linens, as well as by guests. As noted by others, the buffet breakfast was a rip-off. Breakfast room staff took their time refilling bowls/platters. Silverware was kept locked up. Felt like they were being as stingy as possible with food and supplies. This hotel looks like it was cheaply renovated and furnished, and offers guests a bare-bones minimum - their website is deceptive. There is nothing gracious about this place. If you have a choice, stay elsewhere. BTW, the charming photo on the TripAdvisor site, showing a cobbled plaza with a fountain in the center, is not the Hotel Adagio. It is the Place d'Albertas on the other side of the old town.

Room tip: Try for a room overlooking the courtyard. Also, higher for is good. (There are only 5 floors.)

Downtown Aix-en-Provence is undergoing a lot of construction, with road diversions, so maneuvering around the city by car and finding the hotel was initially a bit of a challenge. It is in a great location, though, within easy walking distance to the sights and restaurants in Aix. Friendly and fast check-in by staff. There is a secure underground parking for a reasonable €10 per day.

Having stayed at a few different aparthotels in France, we were surprised a how spacious our room was, with a great, functional Kitchenette. It had a very large bathroom, with double shower. Overall, a very well-appointed and classy unit - the nicest aparthotel we stayed in during our trip to France.

They provided cleaning materials, but did not give starter coffee or tea. However, there is a very large Casino supermarket one block away, so you can get fresh pastries and supplies easily.

We had a great stay at the Adagio, and would recommend it!

Great apartment hotel!
Spacious and clean.
Kitchenette fully equipped: Grill cum Microwave, dishwasher, cooking hob and hood.
All the tools you might need to use in the kitchenette were available including salad spinner!
Very convenient location. 5mins walk from supermarket and under 10mins to city centre where you can find many restaurants and cafes.
Receptionists always friendly and helpful.
Room has a great view to boot. What more can I ask for?
Highly recommended!

I stayed for a long week end with wife and kids. Very well placed in Aix close to everything, good service, warm staff, comfortable, clean, well maintained really worth it. Only thing is that living room is really small in the first category apartment. But other rooms are perfect

The Adagio Aix is welcoming, well-located, and well-run. Great location near the action but on a quiet street away from noise. Rooms are tasteful and everything works! The staff is friendly, the breakfast is fresh -- in sum, a delightful place to stay while you explore the history and many attractions of Aix.
