As we enjoyed a café latte at a sidewalk Café on Cours Mirabeau, the notes of familiar French melodies filled the air. Investigating their origin, we found them emanating from behind the "Mossy" fountain.. a perfect effect to crown a perfect visit.

It's a large stone in the middle of the Cours Mirabeau that is overgrown with moss, presumably evidencing the area's hot springs. It is a familiar landmark in Aix en Provence and a "must see" objective.

This fountain is one of many in Aix. I think it is the collection as a whole that makes it special not necessarily that this one is better than the others.

This is a large stone in the middle of the Cours Mirabeau that is overgrown with moss, presumably evidencing the area's hot springs. It is a familiar landmark but I am not really sure it rises to the level of "attraction." Take 10 seconds to notice it, then move on to enjoy the Cours.

The fountains along Cours Mirabeau are all lovely, but this was my favourite. It is covered with moss and ferns, which are steadily eating away at the stone. Gives one pause for thought...
