“Friendly staff, dated decor.”
Reviewed 24 August 2012

We stayed here in August 2012. I used to live in Aix and come back regularly. The staff were great, offering to let us stay longer in the room as flight home was later, booking taxi for us and the cleaners were chatty and helpful about the surrounding area and events on at the time. The room was a good size with comfortable beds but old, stained carpet. Drink making facilities in the room, and a fresh small bottle of water was provided each day. The room was cleaned daily. Bathroom was a good size with a great shower and toileteries provided daily. Breakfast (14 euros) was an unlimited buffet with a good selection of food and drinks. You were able to sit outside on the terrasse by the pool or inside. The pool was circular with sunbeds and parasols provided. Although not large, it was adequate to cool down and shower and toilet were nearby. A sauna and small gym were also available for use.
Location... about a 20 minute walk to town and not much nearby, a petrol station en route with a shop and a supermarket just before the town. The hotel evening buffet seemed expensive so we chose not to eat there. Aix has a great selection of restaurants, takeaways, and the prices are far more appropriate. After the large buffet breakfast, we did not need lunch and often, in the heat, a snack was enough in the evening.
Aix has a great range of markets which warrant a visit. The city is beautiful and has loads to offer, known as the Paris of the South!

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor, no balconies available and we looked out over the hotel sign which...

This Kyriad is a 20 minute walk from Aix town centre along a busy, down at heel road. The bus service into town is good but the last bus is about 9.15 p.m. The hotel staff are helpful and friendly and breakfasts are good. Dinner was expensive however with only a cold buffet or a la carte available. There is a small swimming pool with sun beds but the area is small. The room was clean and tea and coffee making facilities are provided with a free bottle of water each day.

Room Tip: Rooms on the pool side are away from the noisy road.

We stayed here in June 2012.The other reviews on this Hotel are accurate in describing it.We were also on a Tour of Provence run by an English firm (Riviera Travel)
There are other hotels in the area(Ibis,Best Western),worth checking out
The only good thing about the hotel is its road links. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is looking tired and dated, the only thing up to date are the prices.22 Euros for 2 course evening buffet, drinks , more than 10 Euros for a large Larger ,and orange juice for the Wife.
The breakfast is Continental ,no big fry ups here!
There is a small pool with a scattering of sun beds around it.
There is a problem with 2 rooms in this hotel,in that there is a ducting system coming from the Kitchen, when the kitchen is in use the rooms become too noisy to stay in,ask to be moved straight away, they are on the 3rd floor!
The hotel is out of town, walking is 20 minutes, but in the 30 degrees sun,as was in June, can be hard going. There is a bus service as mentioned in other reviews at 1 euro, running every 20 minutes, last one back to hotel is 10 pm.Taxi is 7 euro.
The room is cleaned every day, clean towels, tea making facilities, with a complimentary cake and small bottle of water are its only redeeming features!

We stayed at the Kyriad for a few nights in May with a tour company.

The decor of the room was tired but it was cleaned daily. Hot drinks were available in the room, this was a plus as it was not expected.

The breakfast buffet was the best part of the stay – we did not have the evening buffet as the price was a tad high.

There is a bar and the nearby receptionist appears to be responsible for serving from the bar. The first night we waited at the bar for a while and when nothing happened we approached the receptionist who came over and served us. I asked for draught lager but the pump was dry, so dry that nothing came out at all. We only used the bar once.

There is a large supermarket , named Geant Casino, ten minute walk away.

Fifteen minutes walk in to the centre of Aix or you can use the excellent bus service. Every ten to fifteen minutes, The into town bus stop is on the opposite side of the road to the hotel. You need a number 6 bus, just hand the driver one euro, he/she will hand you the ticket which you then validate at a machine next to where you are standing. Get off at the stop named “Bonaparte” (should be an electronic display visible) and you are at the traffic island with a large fountain, Place de la Rotonde adjacent to Cours Mirabeau. Return bus, number six, the stop is on the opposite side of the island on Avenue Victor Hugo and has “Victor Hugo” on the bus shelter. The return stop near the hotel is named Stad Ouest or similar.

We were told that the last bus in the evening was about 10pm but we did not use the last bus.

Had a very unpleasant stay in this hotel. Where to begin! The location is noisy - surrounded by very busy roads, about 20 mins walk to centre of Aix so need to take a bus. Although the hotel has a restaurant it is best avoided as very overpriced for average food. The staff were offhand and disinterested, the bedroom although a reasonable size was very tired and dated, bathroom needed a re-fit. I would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool are quieter away from traffic noise

I stayed here for about 1 week and overall it was not too bad with decent sized rooms for France. Food was ok also, but nothing special. However, 100 euro was stolen from my room and a friend of mine also had money stolen from his room during our stay. For this reason I would not recommend staying here at all. The staff and management did nothing about it, simply saying that we should have used the safe. Still disappointed in this place.

Room Tip: do not stay here.
