We picked this hotel for our one night/day in Aix based on TripADvisor reviews and were not disappointed! The service we received ws very warm and helpful, and we were showed our room to ensure we were satisfied beforehand. The room was great--very cool design, with a huge shower and a balcony. The bed was very comfortable as well, and the free wi-fi was appreciated. We were just steps from the old part of the city, and within an easy walk to restaurants and the markets. Since we had to check out by 10:00 a.m., but weren't leaving the city until the afternoon, the staff graciously offered to lock up our bags for us. We highly recommend this hotel!

We were very happy with this hotel. I loved the minimalist decor, sophisticated choices of materials and touches of whimsy. The manager was very accommodating and pleasant. Our room had a wonderful, private patio with very comfortable furniture - what a pleasure to sit outside in the beautiful Aix-en-Provence sunshine in your own space!
We had a couple of snacks in the downstairs bar but with so many outstanding choices within 5 minutes of the property, one didn't need to rely on them. We would definitely go back to Hotel En Ville and felt it was good value for the money.

We didn't have a reservation, so were happy to find a reasonably priced place to stay in Aix at 125.00 E/night. There were 3 of us, and we were dismayed to find one of us had to sleep on a flimsy cot. Like the other reviewers, we found the decor modern but minimalist, and the curtain between the room and bathroom funky. OK for one night, though!

We had a very bad experience at this hotel. Whilst the rooms were clean and modern (albeit the 'en-suite' toilet was scarcely separated by transparent fabric rather than a door!); the hotel staff became very rude and threatening when we asked to change our booking from three nights to two.
When we had arrived we were asked to pay for car parking, after being told on the phone that it was available with the hotel. To prevent us leaving they suggested we use a car space guarded by lockable bollards, and when we wanted to leave after two nights, they used the fact that the car was in this space to prevent us leaving.
Two hotel staff engaged in a rather frightening argument with us, and It didnt help to find someone had thrown a large amount of seeded fruit over the windscreen of our (hired) car (!) which took thirty minutes to clean off. They really didnt like us choosing to leave the hotel. We finally 'were allowed' to leave after paying half the rate for the third, unwanted night. Scary people.

We were beyond surprised when we checked into the Hotel En Ville. Candles lit on the stairwell, and fresh flowers in the rooms welcomed us. The rooms were large by Euro standards and very very comfortable. We had a single room on the front and a double in the back with a balcony. The balcony has a bad view but was nice for a bit of fresh air after a long day. The bar downstairs was also a nice spot for a quick pre-dinner drinks and the owners restaurant recommendations were perfect. They went out of their way to make our stay feel very comfortable.

There is some weirdness as the bathroom in our double was actually in the room and not a different room. If you're shy about havibg your business and bits and pieces out and about for the person you're sharing the room with then this might not be the place for you. The shower was AMAZING. The bed was very comfortable and featured linens purchased in Aix.

The location isn't off the beaten path but it's not smack in the center of things which was nice. Once we closed the heavy shutters all noise vanished.

I'd move in if I could and it's the kind of hotel I'd want to own. It was slightly more expensive than other places in town, but we all felt like the extra money was worth it and I cannot remember when the last time I said that about a Frnech hotel.

If you're in Aix you must eat at Chez MItch. Fancy bistro food with great service. Even two years later were still trying to find a New York restaurant that is as good.

Stayed for 3 nights while down to see the Rugby World Cup in Marseille.

Good, basic and modern rooms, a simple but good breakfast and genuine and friendly service throughout the stay. Felt a bit overpriced at €130/night - but central and would recommend for those looking for a simple hotel.

My experience at the Hotel en Ville was never disappointing. I traveled solo and had no problems with the staff or with my room, which consisted of a comfortable queen bed and a (not-so private) single bathroom with shower.

There are not many frills in the room -- it has a modern feel to the decor -- but it was charming just the same. The room was very open (high ceilings and two windows facing the street which, when shuttered completely, blocked out all noise from the street below) and was spacious enough for two, although the bathroom wouldn't afford much privacy if more than one person were staying in the room. I have read in other reviews that other rooms had "saloon" style doors to the toilet room, but my bathroom only had a partial wall (no door). Perhaps the room is intended for only one person? In any case, this did not damper my experience at the Hotel en Ville.

I found the staff very personable and helpful, and the location, although not smack dab in the middle of the action, was not out of the way. It was only a short walk to the center of old town. The breakfast available downstairs is delicious -- I hope they still offer it (after all, I stayed there a year ago).

I would recommend this hotel for a short weekend in Aix, as I had a lovely time and had no complaints (I can see the bathroom being an issue for some, but for a solo traveler it really wasn't a problem!). Ideal for a small party or a solo traveler, especially if you are looking for a pleasant, quiet, and unintrusive atmosphere.
