Actually, I do not want to write a great review because otherwise everyone wants to sit here and maybe we miss out next year, but that would not be fair to Jerome. The host is a friendly man who lives next to / above the house. He responds very quickly to questions, and has great tips on what to do nearby. The location on the outskirts of Aix, is easily accessible and is very private behind a fence and wonderfully quiet, which is a surprise because Aix is a big city. It has a beautiful garden with beautiful big trees where you can park your car behind the fence. Near a bakery (Boulangerie Lilly) where you can have delicious french bread. Adjacent is his father's country where all kinds of delicious things like courgettes, tomatoes, etc.) are grown (small-scale) where we have also been able to taste and drink some things (Aix quise wine ...). The trampoline was really great for our children (10 and 8), as well as the table tennis table (sometimes difficult with the Mistral) and the lovely pool. Speaking for myself, almost every day i used the gas barbecue that belongs to the house. The house itself is big enough for four people with a nice bathroom with a brand new washing machine (thanks Jerome!), A separate toilet, a bedroom for the children and an older bedroom. What's absolutely really, really appreciated is that the living room has climate control. It can be very hot in France and the climate control really adds comfort to the place. The living room annex kitchen is equipped with an induction hob, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine (nespresso dolce gusto: so buy some cups) and refrigerator with freezer compartment. Remarkably and very funny, the 5 meter deep well, shielded with a solid gas plate and illuminated well located in the hallway. In the living room / kitchen there is also a TV, plenty of closet space and the dining table and a bed sofa (if I have to criticize, you can not sit down with 4 people, but there are also dinning chairs) you can use to watch TV or a movie (though you must bring a media player or something like that because there is no DVD player). To visit the city of Aix, you can do this best by using P + R Krypton where you can get parking for your car for just 2 euros 20 all day and go to Aix for free by bus 7, because parking near the center is quite difficult and quite expensive. Other recommendations are: a day of Marseille with all its attractions, Cassis, Vazarely museum (2 min drive). I can go on for a while, but you just have to experience it. Top time here and especially: my children were very pleased and enjoyed it very mucht! Thanks again Jerome!
We stayed at this rental for 10 nights in June, 2017 (3 adults with 2 kids, 16 and 12). Our overall experience was wonderful, and we would not hesitate for a moment to recommend this rental to other travelers to Aix.
Jerome owns the property and was exceptionally responsive is responding to a series of questions (in English) pertaining to some of the amenities and arrival logistics, which was a great comfort. The property is extensive and has a beautiful setting; it's adjoined by a large private garden maintained by the family, which includes a small vineyard and olive trees. Amenities include a pool, small but comfortable patio, ping-pong table, trampoline, grill and a children's play area. The rental apartment itself is very modern and well-appointed and could easily accommodate our group of 5.
The location was perfect for us - quite close to the heart of Aix, yet it felt peaceful and almost rural once the gate was closed. We found Aix to be an excellent base from which to explore the many destinations and sights that Provence has to offer.
Thanks for a great stay, Jerome - a bientot!
We enjoyed our stay in the Provence area very much, the flat is in a good location for exploring the area and the owner, Jerome, was very friendly and helpful and had lots of ideas for places to visit.
We particularly enjoyed all the various opportunities for lake swimming in some of the most beautiful scenery, especially Gorges du Verdon which is a very pretty hour's drive away.
The flat itself was well equipped with air conditioning in the main room and a lovely bathroom. The swimming pool was very welcome on the hot days that we stayed and we also appreciated the gas barbecue for preparing our own meals in the evenings.
This is an amazing find - first of all, I should say we were 3 adults and 2 infants - the apartment was plenty big, well appointed, and extremely comfortable for us all. Newly Renovated. Secondly, the property is amazing. You are staying in a Vineyard, but just a few minutes from the center of Aix... Amazing. Thirdly, Jerome could NOT have been more helpful, gracious, or friendly - he was always there to help. His family is also extremely gracious The grounds are HUGE - our children were constantly asking to go outside and play - to jump on the trampoline, swim, or go bike riding- there are horses and a small river nearby - and it's all fenced in and safe - - - it was really wonderful staying there. If this place is available, you shouldn't hesitate - you'll find a wonderful place and a wonderful host family. Merci, Jerome et Famile
We had a truly great stay at Jerome's place for three nights. Jerome was incredibly friendly and helpful in sharing his passion for the Provence region, with many excellent tips and advice on what to see and do during our stay. The place is really nice and charming, with immediate access to the garden and pool area from both the living room and one of the bed rooms. As we stayed there in late October, it was a bit too cold to use the pool, but it is a great feature during the warmer seasons.
The place is conveniently located, very close to the centre of Aix, and has the benefit of local stores (bakery, butcher, cheese, etc) nearby, which are excellent and a better option than what you can find downtown, or at the supermarkets. Jeroen and his family were also very generous to share their produce during our stay and it gave an extra touch to us that they were there to share some of their thoughts about life in Provence when we were interested.
Jeroen's daughter took our daughter on a tour around the local area, which was much appreciated, and surely good for our daughter's French studies. We can definitely recommend this place and would stay there again if and when we come back to Aix-en-Provence!
