Description: La Chassagnette is a gourmet restaurant at 12 minutes away from Arles, at the very heart of the Camargue Regional Nature Park. With 1 Michelin star and 3 Gault & Millau toques, la Chassagnette invites you into a magical place that combines natural charm with contemporary design. This former farmhouse is a tribute to nature and art of cooking. The Chef, Armand Arnal, has the title of Maitre Restaurateur and draws its inspiration from that unique environment. The 2-hectare organic vegetable garden provides a colourful and fragrant setting to walk around and discover the produce that you will later find glorified on your plate.

We arrived to La Chassagnette through Lonely Planet recommendation. Until our leave we didn't know that it had 1 Michelin star. The chef was great - after we made the order he suggested that instead of ordering 3x menu fish maybe we would like to try one big fish. He recommended to us St Pierre - that has just arrived to his restaurant - and it was very, very delicious! It was served from a big pan right on our plates. It wasn't cheap - 4 portions for 45 EUR each but it was worth every cent. :) What's also great is that they grow they own vegetables in the adjacent garden. The location is also cool - we sat in a huge mosquito-net-box-terrace - filled with trees. The tomatoes were huge and very tasty. Our top food choice of our trip to France!

We thought we'd died and gone to heaven. We went to La Cassagnette for dinner on midsummers day and we're greeted by the Chef/ owner like we were old friends. Wondering around the pottager with a glass of champagne was just idyllic. We opted for the tasting menu and we weren't disappointed. As you'd expect the vegetables grown in the gardens really took centre stage and we're sublime with just small amounts of great fish and meat to set off the flavours. The wine list is small but very we'll chosen and extremely reasonable. The organic Rose we chose was really great. Staff were attentive and friendly but relaxed which matched the overall atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

La Chassagnette prides itself for serving organic vegetable grown in the restaurant's garden. The problem is that at €27 a plate of steam vegetables you expect the moon and back but unfortunately my vegetable offering was very disappointing and lacking in taste. The fish or meat dishes are all priced at €35 or more and according to my party are not worth the price tag. Add €15 for minute desserts and a wine list with nothing available under €40, you quickly get a sense that this place is more style over substance. Finally we were charged €27 for 8 bottles of tap water and realised that this restaurant practice day light robbery. Only go there if you are so wealthy that money is no object and if you like bland food.

Hello,
Our restaurant values vegetables. At the end of May, we were serving fresh vegetables picked in the morning, then cooked with some organic olive oil from La Chassagnette and organic butter.
Our dishes are prepared with high-quality products, are cooked and served by a passionate team whose greatest wish is to transmit their passion to our customers. We sincerely regret that this was not the case for you.

We are sorry to note that the fixed rate of the water was incorrectly interpreted. This rate of 4,50€ includes an eco-sustainsabiltiy contribution which covers the 1st bottle for 3 people, followed by an unlimited supply of water at no additional cost.

I've eaten here a few times and found the food very fine. Clean flavours, brilliant vegetables, good quality meat and fish. Fine wine list. Picturesque location but do watch out for mosquitoes in summer evenings (bring spray) as this is the camargue.

We felt the aperitifs were tasty but overpriced, 17E for a glass of champagne and 10E for a glass of watermelon juice. The tasting menu was 85E pp for 7 courses - 4 appis, 1 entre and 2 desserts. The dishes were pretty and innovative, most worked well for our tastes, one or two were misses but overall was a very nice experience. The setting was lovely in the garden and the indoor restaurant appeared to be pleasant as well. Outside there were large solid wood tables for larger parties or two smaller parties. We were seated at a table for 2, one of several small round folding tables which we felt were a bit 'cheap' for the cost and setting. Also all the chairs outside were of the folding variety, but did have a cushion for some comfort. I loved the 3 legged cat, also there are some adorable small frogs in the garden (not on the menu!). This is certainly not a place to rush a meal but to enjoy the food and the ambiance - our service was good and the courses were served in good time. It took us 3 hours from arrival to leaving which I think for a 7 course meal plus the house amuse bouche to start and coffee to finish is perfectly acceptable. On a beautiful day so that you can also enjoy the setting and the garden I would recommend this restaurant for a lovely overall experience if cost isn't an issue for you. For me, I would like to try other French restaurants before I would come back.
