Yes, this is a great hotel but having dinner on the Place outside (at the Taverne) we experienced our only negative moments of our two week trip in France. Even though we had been sort of warned off the eateries on the Place, the recommended restaurant being closed, we took our chances. During the so-so meal I had the temerity to ask for some water. Was this a faux pas or what! The irate serveuse/ young woman banged a bottle of water down on our table throwing in a few 'merdes' for good measure. We didn't dare ask for bread.
Now back to the hotel: we arrived late in the evening and felt comfortable enough to take a dip in the secluded pool in nothing but our unds. So refreshing!
We enjoyed meeting 'la patronne', a charming but no-nonsense fully-in-charge brunette of a 'certain age'. Even though her English was excellent she spoke to me in French, which I appreciated.
Reviewing our trip it's the people we remember the most. Was the bed comfortable? Probably.More
