“Comfortable and welcoming”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

Situated on a quiet side street on the opposite site of the river Rhone from the main tourist attractions, this hotel is a 5 - 10 minute walk over the bridge into the town and a further 10 mins. walk onwards to the train station. The entrance and reception area are nicely furnished and we were warmly welcomed and given our room key and a map of Arles. The room was a reasonable size and our window overlooked some of the neighbouring rooftops. The bathroom was a bit cramped but the shower was fine and some basic toiletries were provided. The hotel and the surrounding area were quiet at night. We did not have breakfast so can't comment.

Hotel Porte de camargue is a reasonable place to stay when visiting Arles. Located in a quiet area on the less touristy side of the river it is still close enough to walk into the heart of Arles in 5 minutes. Plenty of free parking in the side streets. The owners have done their best to make the facilities clean and presentable and it is all newly painted with modern canvas photos adorning the walls. The staff Thiery and Christine have limited English but attempt to help with all requests and always greet everyone with warm welcoming smiles. Breakfast is ok though not remarkable. Room could have been improved immeasurably with a new carpet. Overall a pleasant base to stay.

It was just OK. Aircon worked and the room was clean but not enough electric sockets. Located in a poor part of town but just across the bridge from the centre. The rooftop terrace gives a good view of the rooftops of Arles.

This is the start of our Chemin d'Arles. Conveniently located on the other side of the bridge over the Rhone. Good location, quiet and clean. Wonderful terrace spot on roof to relax.owners are friendly. Do not speak English but we managed quite well. We could improve our French as well.

Room Tip: Bed is huge. Room is medium small. Very quiet rooms.

Though it is situated across the river from the town in an interesting little suburb, this hotel gives ready access to all the sights of this great destination via a short walk over the Rhone bridge.

Though our room was a little musty, it was large enough, with good French windows overlooking a side-street and a good bathroom. The breakfast was excellent - the croissants were some of the best we've ever had.

The roof terrace was a great feature - especially in the evening after the heat of the sun.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It was very convenient for visiting the Camargue by car, and is also well located for easy walking over into Arles for sightseeing and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable, and there is free parking on streets close by. Don't use the hotel recommended restaurants in town (side streets near the river) - they are expensive and the food isn't great - there are loads of restaurants in the centre of town, and a very good Balkan restaurant near the amphitheatre. The hotel breakfast is also expensive and the machine coffee wasn't nice - we only ate there on the first morning. Good breakfasts can be had at street cafes on Bvd des Lices for 5-6 euros.

we recently stayed at this place, it was a great hotel, they have elevator which is unusual for many European small hotels. it is on a small charming street, next to river and walkable distance to the restaurants. the owners dont speak english at all, but it was ok for us.
