“A Memorable B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2013

La Maison de Thais (named in honor of the host's bubbly 9 yr. old daughter), is a charming and accommodating B&B in "Old Arles", a working class district of the city that contains most of the classical history of this former Roman settlement.
We made Arles our home base for our week-long visit to Provence, and La Maison de Thais was the perfect choice for our stay. It is equidistant from Avignon, Aix-en -Provence, and (almost) Marseilles.
It is a great town to walk around in, with excellent food at various price-levels.
The B&B is very homey, with a small roof-top terrace, but the host, Alban, is the friendliest, and most natural, host we've ever run into. He is full of thoughtful( and accurate) information about what you might enjoy, likes to chat , in French or English, and prepares excellent breakfasts with his own, home-made, jams.
It is as close to staying with a good friend as we've found, and you can enjoy a glass of the regional drink, Pastis,( anisette, like the Greek "ouzo") on the terrace with Alban. We look forward to going back!

We recently stayed 2 nights at La Maison de Thais. Alban was a great host and took time to show us some different places to visit, directions on how to get to different locations and also some great recommendations for restaurants. The house is nicely decorated. We had to share a bathroom with one other couple and it was not a problem at all. Although the bed is not super comfortable the room is well appointed. We had everything we could have needed. The roof top terrace was really nice and it was great to have access to a fridge to leave a few cold drinks for when we returned at night. The house is in a perfect location as you can walk to everything within 10-15 min. It was easy to come and go. The breakfast was really good and it was nice to chat with Alban and Thais. We would not hesitate to return to La Maison Thais should we be fortunate enough to go back to Arles. Merci pour tout Alban

Just got home from three weeks in Provence, a wonderful part of the world. The best part of the trip was staying with Alban and Thais in their home. The house is convenient for walking around town and I even borrowed Alban's bike a couple of times which is a great way to see the city. The room and the bed were super comfortable... being in a locals home changes the whole experience. I got to speak French and improve my abilities. I got to use the cooking facilities and the fridge over the six days that I was there. Great recommendations for restaurants and things to do. He was so helpful to the other guests as well..... intelligent and gracious host and his daughter Thais is a delight. I can't imagine visiting Arles again (which I love) and not staying here. And the terrace on the roof is fantastic. Alban works hard and it shows in the service he provides..... merci, mon ami. A bientot....

I have to say that La Maison de Thais is a great stay in Arles! The house is a walk of 15 min from train station and located in a quiet street, though it is not next door to tourist sites you have a chance to get the tranquillity and experience the real life style in this lovely town.

The house is nicely decorated with style and my room is spacious and clean, I like the furniture and decorations in my room as well. The room looks exactly the same as in the photo here. During my stay there was no other guest so sharing washroom is not a problem for me, but anyway there are only 3 rooms so you should not have big problem sharing washroom with others. The host, Alban, is really nice and he is always helpful and willing to help, he even reminded me to make meal at home when restaurants outside all closed during Christmas.

All in all I am very satisfied with my stay there and I would definitely stay again when I visit Arles next time.

We really enjoyed staying with Alban. His house was warm and welcoming. Alban also helped us when we had a flat tyre, he brought us to a repair centre and spoke in French (as car stuff is outside our repertoire of the french language!) The room and house was really tastefully decorated and the breakfast was fantatstic and great value. We would definately recommend staying here as the hosts were fantastic and it is a perfect location for exploring the Camargue/ Avignon/ Pont du Gard

This little provincial guest house is located in a typically beautiful Arles street, animated by locals but still quiet and away from the consumer hustle of the main tourist drag. Don't fear, in this tiny town it is just a 5-10min walk away from the historic sights. Alban and his friendly daughter Thais are welcoming and friendly hosts. Alban is always up for a chat, prepares a large and delicious breakfast and makes you feel at home, in what is essentially his house. Our room was clean, decorated in Provence style and perfect for a couple looking for a romantic and value-for-money stay. Cold beers are always in the fridge for a euro, wi-fi is available and Alban recommended an incredible restaurant for the first night (La Fee Gourmande). The bathroom was shared but like the room, it is well-appointed and always clean. What more can I say, it was a great place to stay to get to know Arles and to feel both at home and on holiday at the same time!

Room Tip: We took the cheaper room and it was still very, very nice.

Alban was a very helpfull and friendly person who made us feel welcome right away.
He was a great help in giving advice which places and other towns we should visit.
The breakfast was delicious. The rooms were very coosy and clean.
The house is located in the center of Arles, everything was in a walking distance.
Finding a parking spot was sometimes a bit hard and during summer, a lot of mosquitos in the city.
Some advice: definitely go watch the Camargue course, go visit the Camargue itself by horse and make to trip to 'les Baux de Provence'.
If you want to visit Arles, take my advice and book your room in 'la Maison de Thaïs'.
