Lovely place, in the countryside, quiet, but five minutes away from downtown Avignon

The owners, Paco and Francoise are a delightful couple and gave us great personal attention

We would love to go back

Perhaps one of the most peaceful places I have ever stayed at. We intended to stay for three nights, but cancelled the rest of our accommodations in Gar and Bordeaux to stay here another 3 nights.

Wonderful location on an island to the west of Avignon. Wonderful hosts. Reasonably priced. I could have stayed here the entire 3 weeks we were in Europe.

If you stay here you will need a car, but driving in the area (with a GPS) is easy.

Use this place as your home base and any direction you travel is great food, amazing wine and history!

Room Tip: If you have 2 couples either stay in the separated two units in the main building or the two bedroom...

My husband and I recently spent four nights at this lovely B and B in the Matisse room. The inn is filled with gorgeous antiques and art. Our room was very comfortable and looked down on the courtyard. Our hosts, Francois and Paco, saw to our every need. Their hospitality spilled over to include restaurant recommendations, side trip suggestions, shopping, etc. Francois's artistic food presentations and table decor made breakfast very special. While there, we ate several times at a delightful little hotel, La Ferme, near the inn. Walking to the hotel with a full moon overhead and being in the midst of this beautiful landscape was quite an experience in itself! These are the times when the earth seems to standstill and you can take long, deep breaths and feel at one with the

My husband and I spent a wonderful week in the Manguin cottage (separate from the B&B but on the same property). Françoise & Paco were very welcoming & helpful throughout our stay, as well as the couple other staff that we interacted with (one nice woman helped us get into our cottage after we were having trouble with the key the first day!). We had a lot of privacy at the Manguin, but were able to access the main house for wi-fi when needed. We spent a lot of time in the lounge chairs near the garden and ate several meals outside. The kitchen was well-appointed and we were able to stock the small fridge with great food from the local grocery store (in nearby Les Angles). We found the location to be perfect as well, since we relished the country experience (but were still able to get to Avignon in about 5-7 min.). The area around the house is perfect for strolls or jogs in the apples & pear orchards, or along the Rhone. If we ever get to come back to Provence, I would go out of my way to stay at this beautiful property. I highly recommend the cottages as well, if you're staying for a little longer visit. They provide terrific value and a great homebase for exploring near Avignon. The bed in the Manguin was VERY comfortable, we utilized the kitchen and outdoor areas, and couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations or the service we received.

Room Tip: Any of the cottages- Manguin was wonderful!

We stayed in the 2-room Degas Suite. Very spacious, nice walk-in shower. We were part of a group of five. Everything the other reviews have stated is true. Particularly nice was the elegant breakfast prepared every morning by Paco and Francoise. Were there five nights; on two of them we bought food at a supermarket in town and had a dinner (with much wine) outside in the courtyard. Much fun (and saved some money). Early October has great weather in Provence and would recommend that time of year. The lodge is about 15 minute cab ride from the TGV train station. (There were a few cabs outside the station when we arrived from Paris.)

On this trip to France our goal was to visit the southwest, primarily the Dordogne region, and sample the wonderful foods of the area. However, we decided to go there via Avignon just so we could return to the Domaine de Rhodes. We loved the place when we stayed there previously, and must say that Francoise and Paco have only made the place better, if that is possible. Wonderful hosts and a delightful new room that overlooked the courtyard, our stay could not have been better! Breakfast with them and other guests in the grand dining room is the perfect way to begin your day. Walking the beautiful grounds, listening to the breeze and watching the birds while only minutes from Avignon is a pleasure not to be missed..... We only wish we could have stayed longer. Next time.........................

Room Tip: While others have noted a problem with getting luggage up a winding staircase, this is not a problem...

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our visit to Domaine de Rhodes; Françoise and Paco are wonderful hosts and we very much appreciated their efforts to make us welcome and comfortable. The home was originally a 16th century hunting lodge (although remodeled and added to over the years) and it was a pleasure to be in, with a charm and character that is quite unique. In particular we will remember very fondly having breakfast in your dining room in front of the fire place (with a fire) each morning, it was most enjoyable. The 5 days we spent at Domaine de Rhodes will be pleasant memory for a long time to come.
