It was not easy to find the property but once we did, we were very pleased. Our hostess,Marie, was friendly and welcoming. She even corrected my poor French and set me straight. The property itself was very comfortable. We stayed in a Chinese-themed, air-conditioned room that was well appointed. The air-conditioning was provided by a machine; it was not central to the property. The bathroom was nice but it did not have a door. The property did not have an elevator so we carried our luggage upstairs. Our breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed eating it outside. We parked our car in a secure area that was situated a short way down the street. The key attractions and many wonderful restaurants were less than a 15-minute stroll away. We selected this property for convenience and we were not disappointed.

We stayed here for 3 nights in June and would not hesitate to stay here again. The room was very clean and the breakfast was wonderful freshly baked croissants and fruit, great way to start the day. The guest house is just inside the walls of the old town and a 5 minute walk to the heart. Our host, Marie, is the best and her pets, Miss Essy and Ebony give it that homely feel. We stayed in the oriental room looking over the front garden which was perfect. Marie has parking for 10€ per night.

What we were looking for
:
A comfortable spacious home base to stay in Avignon, with separate rooms and breakfast.

General location:
Just inside the city walls. Close to the Palais des Papes.

Cleanliness:

Very Clean. Top marks.

The Rooms:
We stayed in the Royal Suite. The entire Villa is oozing with the impeccable style of Madame Marie. All rooms are themed, ours was on the top floor and was very spacious with a terrific outdoor patio.

Sleep and bed comfort:
We had a very comfortable king size bed. Villa de Margot has the biggest, best pillows I have ever encountered.
5 out of 5.

Amenities:
Villa de Margot is a B&B. It is secure and private. You are within a gated garden with high walls and complete privacy. Not overflowing with amenities. As mentioned we had a terrific, private outdoor patio on the top floor, there were also two common seating areas in the front gated section of the Villa. One evening we sipped champagne in the red drawing room where breakfast was regularly served. The room is decorated to a very high level of taste. The free Wifi was poor at first, but was brought up to full operational level as soon as a repair person was available.

Food and Drink:
The breakfasts are made with care by Madame Marie. She squeezes the orange juice, she gets the pastries from the patisserie at the crack of dawn. It is all presented with care. In what I believe is traditional french style, you get one cup of coffee. I’m sure if we had asked for more coffee, the very kind and accommodating Madam Marie would have provided.

The Staff
:
Madame Marie was helpful and kind on all levels. She went out of her way in several instances to help make our stay in Avignon wonderful. 5 / 5.

The Crowd:

I believe most of the crowd were older Americans and some newlyweds.

The Vibe:

Quiet and classy.

Pros:

A beautiful villa, decorated with great style in an elegant French setting.

Cons
:
It would be nice if breakfast were served until 11am instead of 10am, but I can understand the need for getting breakfast finished early from the perspective of a small B&B. Also 10am seems common in Europe.

Suggestions:
Bottomless cup of coffee. Especially after night upon night of good French wine!

Summary:

Although we are typically “hotel people”, we have fond memories of our stay. Both the villa and Madame Marie were top notch. We are confident we could not have stayed in a better accommodation in the good city of Avignon.

Stayed 4 nights at the Villa de Margot with another couple---we occupied the 2 suites on the 3rd floor of the villa--- rooms were clean with comfortable beds---would not suggest these rooms to people who have trouble walking up stairs (no lift )---Marie--the owner is a delight and very helpful.
Continental breakfast is plentiful and good---villa is in a good location for walking to restaurants and sights in Avignon---highly recommend

Room Tip: Royal suite on the 3rd floor has a brick patio that overlooks the Papal Palace

We spend only one night but it was nice expirience. Brekfast was excelent, and hospitality of owner, too. It is possible to park a car in the garden for 10 euros wich is good solution! Villa is in a queit part of old city but everything is very near!

First of all, it's hard to park inside the walls of Avignon, however Marie walked us up the narrow road to a private park. The villa itself is beautiful and the bedroom was more than ideal for our few days in Avignon. Breakfast down in the dining room included the freshest of fruit, baguettes and croissants. Everything was clean and well appointed and Marie's hospitality was readily accepted.

Room Tip: Don't know about the other rooms, but ours was lovely.

From the moment we arrived, Marie made us feel welcome in her beautiful Villa. Ideally located within the walls of the city and with views across to the Palace of the Popes, this is a special place to stay in Avignon.
