A very good budget hotel, centrally located in the old walled part of the city. Basic rooms and thin towels, no lift but mike at reception was what the hotel is all about. English, but there for a decade, he loves to share his local knowledge of restaurants, tours, shopping and history. A delight! Buy breakfast in the local les haloes market, not at the hotel. Free wifi and sitting room with English books. Would stay there again as value for money.

Room Tip: Good exercise climbing all the stairs!

Good points- the receptionists were friendly and helpful, the public parts of the hotel are nice, the location is good. Bad points- the room we had was ugly- small, shabby and run down with granny decor. It is near a nightclub, so there was yelling in the streets and cars racing about, all of which could be heard in the room with the windows closed- until 5am. We felt ripped off.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay here very much. The welcome from Mike (who was kind enough to compliment me on my French!) was warm and friendly. He kept us up to date on the wather forecasts and had some great suggestions for places to eat. The foyer and staircase were both lovely and had the weather been warmer we would definitely have taken advantage of the quaint garden. Our room ws simple but nice with a great view of the back of the Palais des Papes. It was also nice to see that Le Medieval is an eco friendly hotel. The breakfast buffet was also very good with fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, pastries and several types of bread. In addition to all of these positives the location is perfect with just a short walk through a pretty square and a rocky allee way to the Palais des Papes.

Room Tip: Room 27 has a great view!

Great hotel and very friendly helpful staff. We arrived on our bicycles and they stored them in the garage for us. Right nest to the palais des papes! Comfortable rooms and you can't beat the price 73 euros!

This hotel was fab. Can't imagine how anyone could criticise anything about it. Mike on reception was the most friendly andhelpful person one could wish for. We had a room with a decent fridge which was most useful as we liked to make our picnic for the day out and kept the wind and beer cool. The room was most spacious.
On our last day our flight wasnot until lae evening and Mike gave us the use of the library with a sofa and TV for as long as we liked.
Really could not fault this at all.

Room Tip: Try asking for a room overlooking courtyard

If you judge a hotel by its rooms you'll find this one to be no better than average. Our room was noisy so we had to close the window. This lead to the room becoming very warm which in turn meant we had to use the air-conditioner which was noisier than the cacophony from the street. A no win situation. As others have mentioned, the shower is a bit of a problem, switching itself off every 30 seconds or so. The hotel is well situated and is an attractive building with a pleasant courtyard (used mainly by smokers). The staff were first rate, helpful and able to speak fluent English. Not at all bad but better value can be found quite easily in Avignon.

Room Tip: Try to be away from the street if possible.

We stayed in the hotel for three nights, and had a wonderful time. The hotel is in an old cardinals house about a block behind the papal palace - the main square is three or four minutes walk away. The hotel is very cute and we were warmly welcomed by Mike, the best hotel receptionist on Earth! He and his two colleagues cannot wait to advise you on the best places to go and eat - just tell him your tastes and budget. The room was spotless and well equipped for most travellers needs. The free wifi and television were really good, and you can borrow an ironing board from reception (there is a launderette just round the corner). There was no minibar but the hotel offered to keep things in the fridge in the breakfast room, so you could drink a bottle of crisp white in the lovely courtyard. There was also air conditioning, something which is not advertised on the website. We didn't hear any noise (I struggle to see how you could here delivery trucks on the tiny medieval streets), although our shower did only stay on for 30 seconds before you press the button again. For the €65 a night, you truly can't ask for any more - we would pay twice as much!
