Loved it. Most previous reviews agreed. A few dissed it for being "old" which, hello, it is! But well maintained, cozy, updated as much as it needed to be. Amazing, friendly staff, amazing location. It was our favorite hotel on our trip through France and Rome. Would stay there again any day and loved old Avignon as well. Also, restaurant across the way with seats in the court yard was amazing (unfortunately can't remember the name)...is right outside the Hotel d'Europe's court yard. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in Avignon.

Very helpful staff, great location, big big big rooms!!! Shower ran hot/cold so would've liked a better shower experience as our only big room in France... Powder room huge and well appointed... Bed was nice... Morning breakfast buffet was very nice and a real enjoyment to sit in the lovely courtyard... We enjoyed Avignon as our rest stop while visiting the chateauneuf du pape wineries - which are the bomb!

Hotel d" Europe is the perfect hotel in this enchanting historic city. The 15th century hotel with exquisite rooms and furnishings opens onto a beautiful court yard where multi-course meals are served by attentive staff. Located within easy walking distance of Papal Palace, Avignon Bridge and major squares and market areas.

staff parked the car and delivered the bags to the room immediately. clean airy room with great beds and good big bathroom. Only down side to the bathroom was the usual french shower head which was only a handheld requiring you to kneel in the bath to shower. (no wall attachment). Staff friendly, and triple glazed so no traffic noise at night. Air conditioning good. Breakfast in a delightful court yard, limited choice for a four star hotel but again clean and friendly staff. Situated just inside the walled old town, convenient for the shops and the old papel palace (worth a visit)

I hesitated to book this hotel because of the room rate and lacking of info on the website.

When I checked in, however, I found this hotel exceeding my expections. It looked so elegant and well-maintained, the stuff were friendly as well. One of them recommended a local-favorite restaurant and I had a great evening there with the owner Pascal.

And I also enjoyed the personal tour with Mica the private guide of the hotel, her tour was like a daytrip with an old friend(it was expensive, though).

If you prefer a modern hotel chain, this is not for you. It's a place to savor history, a feeling of being in the old days.
