Managed to park outside, but no help with cases available!
Adequate room. Excellent breakfast.
For a small local hotel, you can't do better. Friendly exit from owner who is very pleased with Tripadsvisor!

Room Tip: no idea

Positives
- We stayed in room 11. The room had a window/door that opened on to a huge terrace (not all of the rooms have this – ask for it specifically).
- Room was a good size. There was at least 1.5 metres either side of the bed.
- The room had floorboards instead of carpet (I prefer this in cheaper hotels because it’s cleaner). Again, I noticed that not all rooms have this – some have old carpet.
- Free wireless internet worked well.
- Parking is free. The entrance is at the back of the hotel. To save you having to go inside the hotel and ask for directions – take these directions: from Bd Raspail turn into Rue de l’Observance. The carpark entrance is about halfway down on the right. You’ll need to press the buzzer and the hotel receptionist will let you in. The car park is subject to availability and not bookable – we arrived at about 6pm during peak season and scored the last available spot! Phew!
- While the bathroom has dated décor it is very, very clean.
- The window/door has shutters which let us sleep in a little in the morning.

Negatives
- The bed was awfully uncomfortable. I was there with my husband and we kept rolling into the middle. The mattress was thin and the pillows flat.
- There are no tea and coffee facilities are in the room (this is a common thing in cheap European hotels).
- There is no fridge in the rooms - not even a tiny bar fridge. I would have liked this so I could buy some food and keep it chilled.
- It is an uninteresting 5 – 10 minute walk to Cours Jean Jaures/Rue de la Republique (the main strip of Avignon Old Town). Although we did discover a tiny organic (bio) bakery on the left-hand side of boulevard Raspail on the walk towards Cours Jean Jaures. They have the most amazing little tarts, breads and sandwiches. Definitely worth grabbing as much as you can from there.

For the price (we paid €70 per night) I would recommend this hotel. It’s very basic but clean and the terrace access was lovely.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a doorway to the terrace

Our room was overlooking back parking but with huge windows on tree that provided shade and flowers. Perfectly clean room and great rate. It's close to avenue de la republique, we walked from our hotel to Palais des Papes. Breakfast is good.

Room Tip: I would ask to get room in back of hotel

We spent 7 nights at Hotel d'Angleterre, well we paid for 7 nights, but on the 3rd night we preferred to not bother going back. We were in room 12 and the plumbing, toilets and showers of other guests was so loud it was unbelievable. When I complained about the noise, I couldn't get them to understand it wasn't only the noisy guests (some of them did run around and shout a lot). We came back for another night and were ready to book out, but I asked if we could move. We had a look at 25 and 26, chose 25 because it seemed to have less common walls. It was so much quieter it was like another hotel all together. The room was smaller. The fittings were better. The floor was made of something that crunched! For a lot of the night there were ticking sounds from pipes. But there was no extremely loud roaring sound from flushing toilets and showers.
Most of the staff were very friendly.
When we were leaving, the receptionist couldn't mark where the train station was on our map, only which road to leave town on to get to it. Wasn't too helpful. We had to return a hired car, and ended up leaving it on the wrong side of the station. Don't know what that is going to cost us.
Parking out the back was very convenient.
I would recommend this hotel if you could have room 25.

We stayed at the Hotel d’Angleterre mid-September and had a lovely time. The hotel is in a fantastic position, down a quiet road away from the hustle and bustle of Avignon. It’s only about 5 minutes walk to the train station (town station, not the TGV), the bus station or the river, and about 10 minutes stroll to the historic centre of town.

Our room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet. The room was fairly small and the furnishings were quite basic but adequate. The bed was very comfy and there were extra pillows/blankets in the cupboard if required. There was a TV and free air conditioning which you could regulate yourself. The bathroom was a good size and had a shower, WC and basin and a few free toiletries (shower gel and soap). The room was kept spotlessly clean every day. For a 2* hotel we felt it was excellent.

There’s a small lounge area near reception with comfy sofas in.

We opted to take breakfast at €9 each. There is a choice of cereal, yogurt, fruit, bread on a buffet table and the waitress delivers tea/coffee, juice and croissants/sweet rolls/butter/jams to the table. The sweet rolls were absolutely delicious.

Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. I’d emailed the hotel with a couple of questions before we arrived and was answered promptly and helpfully.

Avignon is a very pretty town, especially around Le Palais des Papes and Le Pont Saint-Bénezet. It’s also a good base if you want to explore the area by public transport. We went to Nîmes and Orange on the train, and walked to Villeneuve lez Avignon and got the bus back. You’ll be spoilt for choice with restaurants in Avignon.

All in all, a lovely break, and would recommend the hotel.

Delightful little hotel, very clean (fresh linen and towels daily) central, and quiet, with friendly staff. Great value and would stay again. A big plus is although 2* it has aircon - which we needed as it was 35 deg and baking hot.
Very glad we chose it instead of a hotel in Place d'Horloge which was very noisy and touristy. Recommend place de corps de saints to eat - lots of little restaurants full of locals and prices good.

Stayed here with Husband & two children (aged 7 & 9). Room was very clean, beds were comfortable and was serviced daily, staff were very friendly, speak english and helpful with advice.
The hotel is inside the city walls & close to everything - we walked everywhere with our children. It is also close to train station and the tourism office. Secure parking inside a gate is available if you need it and the wifi is free. We found the price quite reasonable considering the location and would stay here again :)

The "Flunch' eatery down the road is revolting - dont go there!!!
