The Hotel Danieli is just off the main downtown square in Avignon. Six of us stayed there about December 1, 2011, and paid about $175 for triple rooms (a couple + sister, which split up to $58 each, really a good value for a straightforward hotel in this wonderful city. It is one block from the narrow-streets-converted-into-shopping-mall, and there are at least 10 good restaurants within an easy walk, like 3 blocks. The Hotel has a breakfast, but it is more fun to go to the Palace des Glace, one of those outside French pastry bistros you see, right across the street, for a sweet and cappucino. Carrefour, sort of a mini supermarket, is a half-block away, with food and wine if you want. And the main parking lot of the area at about $20 per night is about 5 blocks away. You can also use the Hotel lot, which I think is cheaper or free. We all agreed we would go back here again if we return to Avignon. No elevator. Plenty of ATMs nearby, or banks. This was during the Christmas Fare, and the entire central square was lit up with Christmas lights! Absolutely amazing.

I and my family stayed in this hotel in August 2011. I was charged an extra 25€ five days after I left the hotel due, so they say, to a broken lamp found in the room. We didn't break any lamp or damaged any other thing in the room as I explained later. Of course we would have told in case of responsibility by any broken thing. Hotel Danieli abusively took money from my account using my credit card number without my permission and showed no willingness to solve the problem.

We got one of the larger rooms on the top floor - it was lovely, can't fault it. The room and bathroom were very spacious and very clean.

The location was good, only a 15-20 minute walk to the bus stop and train station and it was on the main street. It was also a 5 minute walk to Popes Palace.

The breakfast was good quality, they even had a juicer to make your own freshly squeezed orange juice.

I would recommend this hotel to any type of traveler.

What a pity, the first stop of our week long trip to the South of France, and the room was not what we expected...

Location: excellent!
Staff: wonderful, so friendly and helpful
Room: oh dear, it was terrible.

The bathroom was inside the room, therefore no window. No extractor fan either. One of the pipes were leaking in the back of the bath and coming through into the cupboard, making the entire room musty and smelling like mould. I probably should have told the manager but I did not want to sound like a nag. We tried keeping the aircon on to de-humidify the room, but it didn't work.

Anyway we had an ok stay at this hotel.
Will we return? Depends on the room I guess? No broken pipes thanks!

Hotel was good value, great location. Staff really friendly and helpful..I asked for a quiet room and got one. Only drag was that this late in the season lots of bars and restuarants in Avignon were closed and we struggled - particularly on Sunday and Monday evening to find somewhere decent to eat dinner.Everything more or less shut by 9.30 - 10pm at the latest! I was also rather shocked by the number of homeless people begging in Avignon....

After a week on a canal boat Hotel Danieli was a lovely, cool, clean oasis in the heart of Avignon. Walked to it from main train station. Great staff, helpful and patient. Rooms spacious and quiet opening inwards to the block. Buffet breakfast was basic but adequate; probably do better at a cafe for the money; pity we did not get hot showers in am (OK in pm). Just so handy to main features of Avignon. Love the frontage!

Room Tip: Get a inwards facing room

Old fashioned, no lift, labyrinth of windowless corridors (But the fire alarms DO work). Sparsely furnished. No "Do Not Disturb" labels for bedroom doors. Dark and cheerless breakfast area (Who'd want to breakfast here when more cheaply you could be sitting under the plane trees) Parking?
BUT: Cheap, central to Old City, quiet, large enough rooms, friendly and helpful staff. (Take receptionist Caroline's recommendations for good restaurants)
