“Great Mussels, Good Value”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

You can eat outside or inside here, but with a large group on a warm day we chose inside. We were rewarded with a good menu, and several of us chose the fresh mussels, sold by the kilo and available in several styles. Good Belgian beer and other drinks made the lunch enjoyable. Figure about €15 or so per person unless you by a lot of drinks.

“Horrible service”
Reviewed 2 July 2013

The waitress forgot the bottle of water we asked for. My friend ordered a chocolate cake with ice cream (it was in the menu) and it came without ice cream. Some other clients were asking for the wine they ordered.... A completely mess!

“The worst service I've ever had”
Reviewed 2 July 2013 via mobile

The waitress didnt bring the water i ordered. I reminded her, the same. Ended up having lunch with no water. Ordered a cake with icecream and chantilly; they brought me just a cake and when i pointed on the menu the plate with the description incluiding ice cream she was extremely unpolite. Beside me there was a couple. They had ordered a bottle of wine. They had lunch with water but with no wine.

“Good Food fast :- not far from the TGV train shuttle bus”
Reviewed 30 June 2013

The Taverne is a chain, a upmarket Harvester but with oysters and fish as its main offering. The place was clean and the food quite economical priced. We visited the Taverne twice and enjoyed the food both times. Situated not far from the TGV train shuttle bus (£1.3 each way) its a good place to have lunch on the last day while wiling the few hours waiting for the Bus/Train. Open 12 noon to 12

“Salads to die for”
Reviewed 26 June 2013

It's always a challenge (for us) to find a reasonably-priced restaurant that manages to combine good local cuisine with good service. La Taverne de Maitre Kanter did it so well, we took three evening meals (of a possible four) there. If you're into salads, you won't be disappointed by any of their selections, including the Sud Ouest and the Skandanavie. (I think that's how they're spelled.) Admittedly, I did try their crusted lamb which did not suit my taste, but a dinner companion of ours expressed her liking for it.
Service was good and sitting on a sidewalk patio in ancient Avignon while taking in a good meal is hard to beat.
Highly recommended.
