This is A terrific little hotel. Fantastic location near Place Horloge. Breakfast was typical European with a nice selection.

Rooms were simple but clean and the staff helpful and friendly. This is by far one of my favorite hotels in Avignon for the price. Great value!

Only problems the hall lighting was a little dim but easily overlooked by the ore positives.

We stayed in Avignon for 6 nights in late September, after spending 6 nights in Paris. When we walked through the door of our room my eyes probably bulged out of my head. A European hotel room that was roomy! It was clean, and on the 5th floor it was very quiet. Our window looked out on the clock tower and we were treated to the French Air Force jets flying over in their red and blue jet streams every afternoon. We walked all over Avignon from the L'Horloge because it's so centrally located. I'd definitely go back again.

Arrived in a very, very rainy day. Maybe they felt pity for us and gave us a family room instead of a dbl+child. Rooms are big enough, very clean. Breakfast is quite good, staff is very helpful and, last but not least, the hotel is in an excellent position. Close to all attractions & to the parking.

Hotel de l'Horlage was great as it was right in the heart of the l'Horlage center near the Pope's Palace. We could literally walk out of our hotel and within a few feet be at the Pope's Palace OR be in the heart of the shopping district which for me, sounds just about perfect.

The staff was fantastic! The concierge was extremely helpful in giving us recommendations on places to see and eat. He even provided recommendations on places he himself goes to which I always appreciate that kind of recommendation vs. a touristy recommendation.

The rooms are so-so and a little bit outdated but again, it's a trade off with the location you are getting.

We decided on this hotel because we were only spending one night in Avignon and wanted to be centrally located. We found out on our Saturday night arrival, that it was too centrally located. My GPS directed me up the the Rue de Republique to get there but it was barricaded before we got there. We tried to maneuver to a location closer to the hotel but with the narrow roads, the closest we got was in the Les Halles area where we were blocked again by a barricade. We asked the official manning it that we were trying to get to our hotel but they only directed us to a nearby public parking structure. We then walked the streets to the hotel which luckily wasn't too far away. On check in, we told the clerk about our problem and he apologized and said they should have let us behind the barricades. The barricades are place there every Saturday night to allow pedestrians more access to the downtown area. He said on check out to drive the car to the hotel and they would make a refund for the parking. Easy for him to say, since he wasn't going to be there the next morning.
The room was spacious and had a view of the square. What we didn't like and others on this website warn of it, was the constant beat from the nearby disco. It wasn't loud but the steady cadence did prevent us from getting to sleep. If finally stopped about 2am but I woke up again at 3:30am when it began again.
Another issue I had with this room was the handheld shower. The morning clerk also refused to issue a parking refund and was generally unhelpful directing us to a breakfast spot beyond the hotel.

Room Tip: There is probably no room that avoids the noise from the disco. I recommend staying at another hote...

We arrived by train and a bus ride later, into town, it was a short walk down the main road to get to the hotel. Lovely staff, good sized twin room and close to everything we wanted to see. No problems with noise. Good buffet breakfast with quite a selection to choose from - great start to a day of sight-seeing. We only had one night and I wish we had longer!

We stayed 2 nights in Rm. 411 while visiting Avignon, and it was superb. With the windows closed, it was very quiet even tho it fronts right on Place de l'Horloge above several sidewalk cafes. This hotel is within walking distance of all the sights within the Old City area, just 1 minute from the Palace of the Popes & a 5 min. walk to Pont St. Benezet. An excellent & complete breakfast (hot & cold) is available in their little restaurant for the same price you would pay at any of the nearby cafes, so don't bother looking beyond their doors for your breakfasts unless you want fried eggs or pancakes. Our superior room with city view was roomy enough to do what we wanted with enough closet space for a 3-day stay. The bathroom is also small, but roomy enough to do what one has to do, altho the shower is a handheld one while having to sit or stand in a long tub. Heat & A/C worked very well & we had absolutely no complaints about anything. The desk clerks are quite friendly & helpful with whatever you need. If arriving by private auto, it gets a little tricky when Rue de la Republique is closed for the use of only pedestrian traffic. If that's how you plan to arrive, drive up to the barricades & tell the attendant you are a hotel guest and they will open the barricades for you to drive directly up to Place de l'Horloge & park in front of the hotel entrance. (We didn't figure this out until our third go-around trying to access the correct one-way street.) We certainly plan to return to this part of Provence someday, and when we do, we will book a longer stay at this hotel. We found it completely delightful even down to a loaner umbrella for the morning we had some early rain showers. Bed is also very comfortable.
