“Fantastic Cottages in a Wonderful Location - great value”

Thank you Heather & Keith what a place you have here - just back from a 2 week stay at The Maison des Vignes just outside Avignon. We stayed in Cottage Romarin.

The wonderful Cottages, surrounded by a Vineyard, was all we needed for a lovely 2 week break - upstairs great bedroom and shower area and a well set up living and kitchen area downstairs. When we got there on the Saturday after the drive from Calais it was wonderful to find a nice bottle of Rose in the fridge waiting for us ! We made good use of the pool area while we stayed.

The surrounding area has many great gems to visit (Avignon, Orange, Pont du Gard etc etc) along with the many different vineyards and town markets, it made for a both interesting & very relaxing two weeks. Really helped that the weather even though mid September was so good.

Would recommend to everyone - great value, great location and very relaxing.

We can't wait to go back.

Kieran & Penny

“Wonderful place to stay, good location”

My wife & I stayed here at the end of June 2013 for a week.
We came across it (internet search) after a change of plan to our French holiday, whereby the only place in France with nice weather (25deg+ & sun) was Provence!
Booked the day before, we were given a 20% late booking discount which was a good touch.

Lovely little cottage, clean, good decoration, great bathroom and a neat functional kitchen with oven and hob.
We didn't use the pool but it was clean and well kept.

Very good location, close to hypermarket & shopping and easily placed for day excursions. Please read Heather's self made booklet for things to do - we made several outings based on what she had written - good for people new to the area.
Had the pleasure of meeting Keith, one of the owners, who was very friendly and welcoming to us.
We will be back!

“What a fantastic holiday in a great cottage.”

Stayed in cottage Laurier for a week in August 2013 and had a truly wonderful holiday. The cottage is decorated to a very high standard , especially the the bedroom and bathroom. We both had very good sleeps in the ultra comfy bed.
The outside area is immaculate , and the pool was a godsend as the weather was extremely hot during our stay.
As the previous review states ,the caretaker of the property" Jannine "is a real credit to the owners ,she really goes out her way to make sure you have a great holiday. She even acted as a tour guide for us on a couple of occasions ,which we appreciated very much. The trip to a Tavel (Jannine's old village) with lunch and wine tasting was a great day..
We also met some lovely people and would often share a glass of the local wine or two at night,we even all had nibbles together one night and lit the BBQ on more than one occasion.

The booking process was perfect and dealing with Heather the owner was a pleasure.

We will most definitely be returning to this fantastic house and hopefully it won't be too long.

“A great holiday in a delightful property”

The property was beautifully decorated and furnished with the added benefit of a lovely pool which was much appreciated as the weather was very hot! It's location so near to Avignon and other notable sights made it a perfect place to stay for visiting this area. The communication from the owners was first-rate and Janine who prepares the properties for new people is an absolute treasure and a fund of very useful information. The house was spotlessly clean when we arrived. We loved the property, did not want to leave and would definitely visit again.

You won't be disappointed. We stayed in one of the beautiful cottages for a week in August. We took a road trip from England, down through France, The cottages are very well decorated (very French) and have all the facilities you would need. The pool was an absolute treat and the surrounding area is simply gorgeous. We wanted a 'chilled out' week and that's what we got, a week away from the rat race. The owners we very easy to deal with, friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends and family. Thank you

I'm not sure about the other reviewers experience, but our family of three had the pleasure of staying at Maison des Vignes & Cottages, the property is about 7 km from Avignon perfect location the property is situated close to a busy road and when outside you can hear traffic noise slightly. The property was well maintained and very clean the cottages and was new throughout. There was a large laundry with new washing machine, dryer, iron and clothes line. Swimming pool was clean. Owner very helpful with plenty of information of the surrounding area. I knew when we rented the cottage it was for two people only but the owner accommodated us with a rollerway bed for my nine year old which was helpful for us. Great value and would definately recommend this property for couples but not the elderly as there are double storey cottages.

Be mindful if you are thinking of renting these cottages, they are not cheap and there are a number of issues that travellers should be aware of. We have emailed owner to make them aware as well. Make sure you work out with owners first as to where they will leave key, as we had no idea where the key was, and only found it by chance. Be aware of access road in as if it rains the pot holes are huge and can fill up quite quickly. There is another exit/entrance, however we were warned that as this road goes out onto a very busy highway it can be quite dangerous using this exit/entrance. The cottage has a mice problem
And all we had as far as crockery goes is one dinner plate to eat off. The remote control key battery that we had to use to open the gates was flat, luckily there was someone who was staying in one of the other cottages had another key we could use. We did not know this and only found this out after ringing the owner. You would not like to be shut behind the gates and unable to get out. Having said all that, the property is lovely but the owners just need to pay more attention to detail a d the customers needs and not just hope that they will basically fend for themselves, not at all a good thing when they could and most probably be from the other side of the world. It would have also been good if the owner could have at least acknowledged our grievances by replying to our second email, a courteous reply is all we required. We unfortunately cannot recommend this accommodation and would feel if we did not review in an honest way then that is not right for future customers.

Management Response
15 Jan 2013
After much deliberation, we have decided to make some comments on this review.

At the time of booking, clear instructions are given to all guests how to obtain the keys, which is usually via a personal greeting at the property. In the event of unforeseen delays in arrival, we expect guests to contact by telephone our local representative in order that alternative arrangements can be made and any problems dealt with swiftly.

The property is located in rural Provence and a few unusual events may therefore be experienced. These include the odd heavy downpour of rain, and a rogue field mouse entering a property to gain shelter. The road to our property is not tarmacked but is used to access our property, our neighbours' properties, and for the local “vignerons“ to work in the beautiful vineyards that surround our property.

The cottages are well stocked with everything a guest would need to have a comfortable stay. There is always someone available on site to take care of any small problems. Unfortunately, unless they are notified, these problems cannot be resolved.
