“Avignon Delight!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

Madam Emmanuelle runs a great little boutique hotel only a couple of blocks off the main square and provides caring and service with aplomb in English. Easy walk to the train station, tourist office, and many cafes. A longer walk to the spectacular Palace of the Popes, the Petit Palais Museum and the St. Benezet Bridge which stops abruptly in the middle of the Rhone. But that's another story.

The rooms are small, of course, but some of the baths are quite large. So ask for a room with a full bath. We only paid around 100 euro per night (three nights). Paid extra for a tasty light breakfast each morning before starting out on our daily adventures. Check your map, because Rue Galante is short and tricky to find the first time.

All the French folks we met in Avignon were pleasant, friendly, helpful and sharing -- like which wines were best to drink at lunch. Or dinner. Enjoy!! JK

We had a nice stay at hotel de garlande for one night in July. It was a great spot for exploring the city and was reasonably priced with a charming room in a very old building! Bonus on the free wifi. Emmanuelle and Stephan (owners) were great, spoke wonderful English and were very helpful in making suggestions.

The room was nice and the service friendly, great breakfast with home made yoghurt and jam. The best thing about the hotel is the location with several good, small restaurants on the same street, and ideally located to explore the old city. We enjoyed our stay!

Put yourself in the hands of Stephane - he knows the city very well. Also serves a great breakfast. Try the house-made yoghurt. Rooms are comfortable and clean - definitely punching above Two Star. Bon Voyage!

A very good choice for Avignon, it is close to everything (5-10min walk to Palais des Papes), carrefour and good restaurants are just around the corner.

The hotel is not accessible by cars as it is in a cobbled pedetrian street with street blocker. It is about 10min from the TGV train station with Taxi and cost about €20. There is also some kind of local train shuttle bus that runs from TGV station to city.

The host is very helpful and they will provide any assistance needed. All the rooms is on floor 2 or higher, and there are only stairs. The stairs is quite steep, fortunately we travel with a 2 year old toddler and he loved to climb the stairs! Only room 10 is on the ground floor. The room is very clean and have all needed amenities incl a fridge. Only negative is our room is quite small, about 20m2 for a room with 3 beds + a baby cot. However the rooms have very high ceiling, making it more airy than otherwise.

Breakfast is typical french and there are fresh juice and home made jams that are yummy.

Nothing much to add to the other reviewers here, but just wanted to echo the comments regarding the warmth of the owners. Very clear they wanted you to enjoy your stay, and great recommendations on things to do/see during your stay. My daughter was sick during the stay, and I appreciated that they wanted to help if we needed to see a doctor.

We had a "family room" that was pretty big by European standards, and the double opposite the office on the first floor---both seemed nice to us, and very clean.

Finally, I thought the location was very good---close to sights, but was quiet.

My wife and I stayed here on a driving trip through France. It's right in the middle of the old part of town with everything walking distance. Anywhere in Avignon is tricky with a car - we parked at the Palais de Papes and walked for 10 mins. The host was so friendly and helpful, giving us great dinner recommendations, tips on local sites and walking routes and he took all of our stuff up to the room whilst we were out exploring (we left our bags as we arrived early). Highly recommended - if on site parking and a lift are essential then you'll have to look elsewhere - but that will probably take you out of the old town and up a few price brackets.
