My husband and I have just returned home after a wonderful 4 night stay at Maison Velvet. This is a wonderful B&B. Housed in a fabulous old building with beautiful period features and stunning original floors the rooms are so tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean.

There are only 3 bedrooms which make it feel homely and breakfast is taken around a communal table which is a great way to share stories and experiences. Breakfast is fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, fresh bread and croissants and cheese - enough to keep you going for sure.

What makes Maison Velvet so very special is Maya who is warm and friendly, very helpful and full of enthusiasm. I really appreciated her little introduction to Avignon and tips of where to go, restaurants to try etc and places to visit nearby. We followed many of her recommendations and were not disappointed.

I whole heartedly recommend Maison Velvet.

We found Maison Velvet on tripadvisor, so thank you to everyone who recommended it before us. We got off to a rough start with itinerary changes on our part (and learned that with the French and Italians, always call instead of e-mail), so we were a little nervous about what to expect, but we had a wonderful stay. Maya is the perfect hostess, both involved and helpful with recommendations, but also not overbearing or invasive. The rooms are clean and well-decorated without the usual American B&B clutter. Breakfast was fantastic. Our only complaint was that our neighbors were pretty loud (just loud conversation, but it sounded like a party), and because we liked Maya so much, we didn't want to bother her late at night to ask them to quiet down (or say something ourselves). So that may be our fault. Otherwise--perfect!

After corresponding with the owner, Maya, several times to make sure that our reservations were correct (my fault, due to changes in itinerary, not hers), I was very optimistic that we’d found a nice B&B in Avignon during a very busy part of the year. I was surprised that Maison Velvet was not ranked higher in TA, but the reviews I read that were positive appealed to me and our travel style. We booked two rooms and arrived late in the evening.
Via e-mail, alerting her to our arrival time, Maya set up dinner reservations for us at Le Coin Cacher in centre ville for 8:30pm even though we arrived on a Monday night. She greeted us warmly, showed us the rooms and all of the details we needed, explained the keys, and said that she would provide more info at breakfast the next morning at 9am.
Dinner was perfect and we walked back on a beautiful evening after also dropping by the Palais des Papes—convenient to our dining location.
The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, and very inviting. Our bathroom was huge, the air conditioning and wifi (free) worked well, and we had zero complaints. We had access to the sitting room and terrace, too.
Breakfast was simple, but tasty and nutritious: cereals, plenty of fresh fruit, excellent coffeed (and plenty of it), breads, pastries, and yogurt, with jams and preserves. We all ate our fill the first morning while Maya made travel suggestions.
We had a rental car and, based solely on her input, we redesigned what we had planned for the day and it went off without a hitch. We drove to Gordes, L’Abbaye Saint Senanque, Rousillon, Sault, and did a big loop through the lavender districts and it was just beautiful. We had GPS, but Maya gave us extra maps and ideas.
The rest of our stay was perfect, too, and Maya arranged for a taxi to pick us up and take us to the TGV station. Maison Velvet is a real find and we’ll definitely try to be back someday. It’s convenient to all of the center o Avignon by foot, an easy walk from the Gare Centre (but not the Gare TGV!), and Maya could not have been more lovely and helpful. The rooms are quiet and very nicely appointed with more space that we could’ve expected. I HIGHLY recommend Maya and her fabulous B&B to anyone visiting Avignon and Provence.

Room Tip: There are only three and they're all great!

What a lovely little b&b! Maya our host was extremely gracious and accommodating. Our room was beautiful with a little balcony that was directly over the front door overlooking the quiet little street. Breakfast was lovely with a selection of cereals, yoghurts bread cheeses and fruits and more at the time we wanted. My only complaint is we only planned to stay one night. I will definitely be back one day for a longer visit. I would love to explore the surrounding areas of Avignon.

Room Tip: Any room is lovely at Maison Velvet

The B&B itself is small (only 3 rooms), but the room we had for two nights was very spacious. The decor was lovely, the room airy and bright. The bathroom was also large and modern. The bed was one of the most comfortable we slept in during this trip to France when we stayed in five hotels. Our room faced the street, but there was little noise from that (the street is not a main thoroughfare). The B&B was well located, within walking distance of much in Avignon. Maya went far beyond what we would expect from a hostess. She provided invaluable information on what to see in the area. After asking our preferences for dinner, she suggested (and made our reservations for) wonderful restaurants. She even gave us her own area map to use when we drove outside Avignon one day. She prepared a delicious and more-than-adequate breakfast at a time we preferred each morning. The only difficulty we had was finding parking near the B&B, but that was a difficulty we had in many places we went in France, except at hotels having their own parking lots. Still, Maya came to our rescue and helped us find parking. AND then she helped us carry our bags back to the B&B from the parking area! Maison Velvet is a wonderful place that I recommend to anyone traveling to Avignon!

Room Tip: Didn't see the other two rooms but expect they're as good as the one we had.
