“5 stars for the dinner, 4 stars for the hotel overall”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

My husband surprised me with a trip to France for my Birthday (love that man), and we took the high speed train from Paris to Avigon, then rented a car and drove to this lovely castle. We arrived at night and were able to find it after a few u-turns. We immediately were checked in and shown to our room, then sat for dinner on the first floor. We both agreed the dinner here was the best meal we ate while in France: I had a delicious mushroom starter and lamb main with my husband indulging in a salad starter (he says the best salad he's ever had, mind you) and fish over risotto main course. We woke the next morning and I couldn't wait to get a glimpse of the vineyard outside...we had 2 large windows overlooking the vines. I could have sat there forever just staring out of our room windows. Breakfast was not included and was average at best. I recommend staying here for the uniqueness of staying in a castle, the stunning view, and for the dinner!!

We chose this Chateau as the last stop of our Provence experience of 8 days and we were very pleased with our choice. Please note that we were there at the end of October so we really could not enjoy the pool or the outside area very much. It would have been much better if we could have breakfast at the garden overlooking the vines but it was too windy for it. Still it is an enchanting spot which can be enjoyed at all times.
Our room was on the second floor overlooking the pool. There is no elevator but we were quite surprised to have the owner himself help us with our luggage. He also gave us a lot of information and advice about the area, the wineries and Orange.
Our room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. However the bathroom was apparently fitted later into existing space such that we would not be able to fit in the very tiny shower if we were overweight. Another problem was the wi-fi which was an extra. They explained that they were working on it but it should have already been resolved as all hotels in France offer free wi-fi.
We also had dinner on the premises. The dining room had only 4 tables and we were about 10 for dinner. We had the fillet for two which was like boeuf Wellington with a delicious mushroom sauce and chocolate desert to die for. These were accompanied by bouchees in between the plates. We had the wine of the chateau which went well with our meal. The service was impeccable and we also had a hearty chat with the table next to us who were organizing the wedding of their daughter at the chateau. I must say the dinner was quite pricey but thoroughly enjoyable. We also had breakfast in the hotel but I am not sure if that was worth it. For that price they could have included eggs and some more delicacies. I would recommend the hotel especially for those who want to spend a day or two in a dream like romantic setting.

I generally hit CdP at least once a year, and for over two decades, this is where I stay. There aren't a lot of rooms, but most are interesting -- each one is different. There's one with the bathroom in a turret.

The place, as my wife describes it, is like an English castle, situated amidst their vineyards (their wine is nothing to sneeze at). It's a great drive up the driveway, amongst the vineyards, with the dramatic view of the castle.

Sitting out front with a cocktail, overlooking the vineyards, is just great. Total piece. The restaurant is fabulous, and they offer some incredible local wines, tho at a price. The two sons of the original (well...most recent) owners now run the place, with one as the hotelier, the other in the kitchen. Great people. Their kids are now teenagers, and at least one acts as wait staff at dinner.

There is a library off to the left, in which one takes breakfast, or bedtime cocktails, It's a total class experience.

Although not inexpensive, it's a great value, and I'll continue to come back here time and time again.

Room Tip: book early -- the better rooms book up...their website shows each of the 5(?) rooms, so you can see...

We went the winery on tour at this beautiful chateau estate in the middle of the vineyard. The views from atop the small hill are incredible. The location is private. Wish we had more time to explore, and wish we could have stayed overnight.

As you drive up, it feels like stepping into a movie. The owners are very accommodating and are eager to assist you in making the most of your time in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. We were a little worried about not enjoying this wine region as much as someone with more expertise in wine tasting, but the owners recommended vineyards where they helped us enjoy the experience. Perfect location for exploring the area. The food was gourmet, and when accompanied by the views while dining out on the patio, it felt almost dreamlike. You can walk or bike on a path through the vineyards to get into the actual town. Perfect for R&R or exploring the region. My only disappointment was that the time went too fast!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms with an "older castle feel". A few of the rooms are more moderniz...

This chateau- set in the middle of a vineyard-makes you feel like you are a fairy princess staying here. The rooms and bathroom are huge and the property has ample space for parking. They have bikes you can rent and are close to Chateauneuf du Pape to do some wine searching and close to Avignon to see the Palais du Papes. We had a very enjoyable 2 nights here. The food was excellent from their restaurant and the eating out on the pebbled terrace delightful. They arranged for a tour of the winerie La Nerthe - which is next door and it was quite interesting to see the caves and taste the wine that is sold to very famous restaurants around the world. My dream was to stay in a castle in the middle of a vineyard and it came true here. Laurent and Martine have a passion for what they do as the owners and are very accommodating and helpful.

Room Tip: If you have small hand luggage you may want to see if the room at the top- with it's own sweepin...

The location is superb and the driveway is like something out of Gladiator! The interior of the chateau is a little dull and I don't think I would have enjoyed our stay if we hadn't been able to sit outside and take in the beautiful scenery. My room though was beautifully furnished and the bed was very comfortable. A shower curtain would have been appreciated though! The pool was nice although I couldn't understand the point of the gate which is tricky to use and for the two hours that I sat by the pool only one person out of about eight was able to open it unassisted! We enjoyed a lovely bottle of champagne on the terrace before dinner but we did have to find a member of staff to serve us first. Finally, dinner was delicious and service was good throughout the meal.

Room Tip: Don't get one on the ground floor and ask for one with a balcony.
