“An Insider's View of Chateauneuf du Pape”
Reviewed 4 January 2014

If you want to experience Chateauneuf du Pape like an insider, I cannot imagine a better place to stay than the Wine B&B owned by Daniele Raulet Reynaud. If you are lucky enough to secure one of her three rooms in this former vinegrowers home, you are really in for a treat.

From the first moment that you meet Daniele you recognize what a very special person she is: energetic, exuberant, warm, personable, welcoming guests into her home as if they were part of the family. The Wine B&B is Danielle's home, a home filled with a history reflecting her years of international travel and her passion for French wine. A stay with Daniele is a stay with one of the best known professional sommeliers and wine lecturers in France. In addition to running the Wine B&B, Daniele is a speaker and trainer on French wine and cheese throughout Asia. Clearly she is a great person to help guide your days exploring the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape. And a tour of Daniele's wine cellar is an opportunity to get an insider's view of the very famous Chateauneuf du Pape wines. During the summer time, guests can partake in weekly wine and cheese pairing lectures led by Daniele, an experience I have not yet had, but will definitely return for.

Rooms are large, clean, beautifully furnished, some with views of Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail. Breakfasts feature local cheese, meats, bread, jams and fresh yogurt and juices and are served either in the garden or the lovely breakfast room.

If you are looking for an opportunity to experience Chateauneuf du Pape in a way few tourists experience, a stay with Daniele will definitely not disappoint!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view of Mont ventoux

Six of us (3 couples) spend two nights at the Wine B & B in late October just prior to starting a walk of the Provence vineyards. The energetic owner and hostess, Daniele Raulet-Reynaud, is a gracious, world famous Senior French Sommelier who has several jobs, one of which is to act as a spokesperson for a large group of Rhone Valley female wine makers. Her B&B was very comfortable, with large bedrooms and a spacious covered outdoor porch in a manicured back yard for drinking wine and enjoying the grounds. It is also perfectly situated in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. We were fortunate to in that Daniele gave us, and another couple, an informal hour lecture in her cave on the wines of Provence--and many of the wines in her cave are for sale at very reasonable prices. She stressed the importance of terroir in winemaking, and also that in France the job of a sommelier is to manage wines and food pairings in association with a restaurant. After the lecture she sent us around the corner to the "House of Wines", a cooperative venture which allows one to sample (for free), on any given day, 3-4 different wines. All in all we were very pleased with our stay, and would not hesitate to spend more time at her B&B should a future occasion arise.

It took us some time to find this terrific place. It is a little bit hidden. The owner is just great - only a little unorganised. But she is super-helpful and really going out. The rooms are all in a different design. She is a former sommelier and therefore more than knowledgable when it comes to wine. We had a superb breakfast in the garden.

Room Tip: As far as we saw them they are all good.

Danièle Raulet-Reynaud Senior Sommelier is an fantastic woman. My dad and I had an amazing experince @ The Wine B&B thanks to Danièle, the location, and the house which is very romantic with a big wine cellar and view over the wine yards. Her knowledge is extensive within wine and cheese so any questions will get answered fully :)

Highly recommended to any couple...You won't regret it! For sure....

The reason we approached the Wine B&B is simple. We are wine lovers and we went to Chateuneuf-du-pape for the festival “La fete de la Verasion”. So, where is the best place to stay during the festival? Of course a sommelier house. So this is what we did.

Danielle the owner is a well known sommelier, president for a women wine makers association, will introduce you to the wonderful world of wine. She organizes wine tasting into her cave and she will provide you all the necessary advices where to buy and taste wine in Chateuneuf-du-pape and Cotes de Rhone.

The house is typical Provencal and the surrounding areas are great.

She has a garage which was great during the festival when lots of crowd were filling the village.
