“Fab location, great stay”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

I have been staying in Antibes for many years, normally self catering, although have stayed in a few local hotels. The Royal Antibes was being built the last time I stayed and so I was looking forward to seeing the finished hotel, and knew in advance what a great base and location the hotel was in.

We were not disappointed, the hotel is modern, very clean and the staff, particularly the reception staff are faultless. We stayed in a basic room, without a balcony or view, we knew this was what to expect as we had booked this at a great rate. The room was much bigger than expected and had plenty of space with a separate toilet and a bath. The bed was very comfortable (I'm fussy!) and some simple added extras like bath robes, slippers and a turn down service every night made it stand out from your average standard hotel room. Yes, we didn't have a view or a balcony, but it was really peaceful tucked away from the road, who wants to stay in their hotel room all day, when the beach is just outside the door! If we stay again, I would look into one of the apartments with a view but so we could also self cater.

The spa is a nice extra, it isn't very big but it has a Jacuzzi, steam and sauna and a relaxation area with fresh teas. There is also a small gym. We used both a few times during our stay and although small, it wasn't busy or crowded and we stayed whilst the hotel was fully booked.

If I was to be picky, the only tiny improvements I'd make are; in some places the hotel is starting to look a little tired, the mirror in our room was slightly damaged, there was scuffing and marks around the door frame to the bathroom, the carpet in the corridor was a little grubby and the reception desk is a little marked, but these really are minors and just the beady eye of someone who has stayed in a lot of hotels. I would also suggest a discounted rate for the hotel's private beach across the road from the hotel for guests, we (and other guests) were there daily and whilst I didn't mind paying the 20 euros for the day, it would be a nice gesture perhaps to offer guests a half price rate?

Overall, thoroughly recommend, look out for a good deal on this hotel and book it, you won't be disappointed.

Dear Guest,

I can barely find the words to describe how grateful I am for your lovely review that made every one of us really happy!!
I am delighted you thoroughly enjoyed your stay and the service provided in our Property. As you have noticed, we pay a close attention to the fact that all of our clients feel treated like VIPS and at home, no matter what room category they booked! It is true to say that our Classic Rooms are available at very good rates - knowing the ideal location of the Hotel - and incredibly quiet. Our Royal Spa "Cinq Mondes" is a great extra indeed and I am glad it satisfied you!
I would like to thank you for your improvment suggestions and I want to reassure you on some points: when the occupancy will allow us to do so - more likely during winter time - we will fix the minor things you have spotted in order to please every eyes! I take the opportunity to inform you that we already started to renew our Reception desk!!

By booking through our Reservations Department, it will be our pleasure to offer you the best available rate for a Cap d'Antibes Suite with its fantastic view overlooking the Mediterranean Sea!

We are all looking forward to welcoming you back soon,

Kindest regards,

This is a very modern hotel and everything is beautifully equipped. One of our draws to the hotel was the private beach. Please note it is:

€20 euro per day per person to hire a sun lounger
€8 euro to hire a towel to go on the beach

This seems very expensive for hotel residents given the room rates.
The hotel is in a lovely location but it is a good 10 -15 minute walk into the old town and port area some of which is uphill. Loved Antibes and thought it was a great place to visit. If I was coming back though I would try somewhere else closer to the heart of things and just relax on the public beach.

Dear Madam,

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts about your recent stay at the Hotel Royal Antibes****
I am very pleased you enjoyed the comfort of your room as well as our beautiful town! The location of our Hotel is pretty ideal too, knowing that we are the only 4 stars hotel in Antibes and as you mentioned, we are just 10 minutes away from the heart of the Old Town!!
As it is written on our website and on all our reservations partners' websites, it is true to say that our Private Beach is due to extra charges as any other Private Beach of the area. Of course, those charges include a real professional service for the whole day, provided by our very careful staff!!

Should we have the pleasure to host you again in the future, make sure to book directly with us in order to take advantage of our "Reward Program" dedicated to our faithful guests!

Looking forward to welcoming you back soon,

Stayed here for the Monaco Grand Prix as it was great for the station and we could always get a seat.
Hotel was lovely we upgraded to get a Balcony and kettle which out friends pinched but the staff were very helpful and friendly. It was great having your own beach although rather pricey once you hired a bed and towel for the day, so bring your own beach towel it will save you 5 euros per day. Bed really comfortable and the bathrooms were lovely, found a few little cafes off the main beach streets to have breakfast as the hotel was quite expensive. Would deffinately stay here again.

Room Tip: upgrade to balcony

We loved the benefits of a new modern building, combined with the flavour of the setting right in the beachfront action. The spa and exercise were luxurious retreats after a busy day. The restaurant was delightful, scene of action, great food, cocktails. We had a wonderful luncheon there on the patio. The hotel has a private sandy beach across the street. One must pay 8€ for a towel and15€ for a beach chair. For this you also had cheerful waiters serving. The beachside restaurant is again a very popular and pleasant location. Wonderful treats on our pillows each evening. The front desk staff, was really excellent and extremely helpful.

Room Tip: There are wonderful rooms with balconies on the beach. We chose a standard room on the side. No vi...

Friendly staff. Check in was efficient.
The residence was perfectly placed for Antibes, clean with added extras including a welcome pack. Valet parking and help at every turn. Each night a different pack of sweets was delivered to our rooms.
Although pricey it's a great place to stay!

Louis was fantastic, room was great food in beach bar fantastic. However after paying £2500 for a week we were told to shower in a beach hut. We also had to climb over a builders yard to put my wife & kids into a male toilet for a shower. We then had to change in hotel toilet. Unbelievable for a 4* hotel. We tried to hold a room but we're told there were none available but there were on line. Tried to hold a room for an hour for a shower but no customer service available at this hotel

Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for the time dedicated to this review!
I would also like to thank you on behalf of Louis-Philippe who has been truly touched by your kind words.

I am sincerely delighted that you thoroughly enjoyed your room as well as the fine meals served at the "Royal Beach"!
On the other hand, I am sorry you had to shower at the Beach Club but unfortunately, the room you saw on line had actually been sold in the meantime to direct guests!
As we were fully booked, we could not afford to allow you using a booked room especially after 3pm - which is our check-in time...
Otherwise, please be sure that it would have our pleasure to help you as you can read from the different travelers reviews, our Staff always go beyond their ways to satisfy our dearest guests!
For some hygienic reasons you can understand, it is not appropriate to shower at the "Royal Spa" when coming from the outside with sandy shoes and clothes...

As a matter of a fact, it appears that showering at the Beach and getting changed in our very large bathroom was the only solution found, whereas in other places we might have told you that nothing could be done.

I wish we could have the pleasure to host you in the future so please, make sure you contact us directly to renew your "Royal Experience" and take advantage of all our advantages!

Looking forward to seeing you again soon,
