We've been going here for years, they always cater for our 3 kids who love their Pasta/salmon comb served up in a pot. Prices reasonable for Cannes!

I have been in over 30 countries and countless restaurants, but this certainly was one of the best I've ever been to. Very friendly, heartily, amiable and helpful staff and simple but excellent food. The whole atmosphere is relaxed, and everyone feels welcomed. Many little extras (like ketchup in a small glass jar, ice in a mini-cauldron, a special dessert-card, etc.) make this small restaurant outstanding. It certainly is not a high-society or luxurious place, but it has a whole lot of charme and, as mentioned before, they serve fantastic food for good value. I would recommend it to everyone and will go there again, should I ever stay again in Cannes.

Pizza in France is usually a poor choice both value and quality wise. The pizza at Pizzicato is no exception. We were in Cannes and had decided to try "once again!" to find a pizza of quality so we happend on this interesting looking side street pizzaria.
First, the cushions of the chair were very, very dirty. The pleasant server tried to help but was unable to find even one chair with a clean (or even near clean) cushion. Ok, no big deal.
The pizza was ordered and out in no more than two minutes. Good if you are in a rush and you don't want anything on your pizza!!
It was nice to be served a small and refreshing fruit drink on arrival. Not a place we will go back to.

Cannes, for those who have not yet had the pleasure of visiting, is an extraordinarily expensive place in which to do anything. If you eat in the evening on the Croisette you will really struggle to find a three course meal with reasonable wine and coffee for less than €100 ($140) per head; and in a heartbeat you could easily pay double.

With that in mind we went a little off piste and wandered up some of the alleys that lead off the promenade and found le Pizzicato. At first inspection we walked by as we assumed it was a pizza house. We decided to return to read the menu as it was quite busy with local customers (always a good sign) and discovered that it was actually more of a bistro/restaurant menu, so we took a chance.

We're very pleased we did. I ordered a rump steak with Roquefort cheese sause, which was served with french fries and salad. The boss had a pizza with anchovies and capers that she says was one of the freshest, hottest, tastiest pizzas she can remember. Mousse au chocolat (A huge home-made bowl of the stuff that they dare you to finish) and a cafe gourmand dessert (macaroons, a tiny creme caramel, strawberries and coffee ice cream, all served in tiny dishes surrounding a strong cafe noir) followed; all washed down with a couple of large beers. All for €49 for two. Bargain. In fact it was so good we returned the next day and had another two course meal for €42 all in with service and tax.

Although we did not specifically ask, it looks as if it is a husband and wife team ably assisted by their grown daughter. They are friendly, competent and professional and we wish them every success.
