“A peaceful haven in the bustling Riviera”
Reviewed 2 April 2012 for a stay in March 2012

My wife wanted to stay in the Carlton in Cannes but I wanted a bit more space to relax so talked here into this so it had better be good...and it was.
It didn't start well as we had to wait an hour to get the keys once we'd arrived but these things happen and chap very apologetic.
The villa was perfectly clean and exceptionally well equipped, it wasn't like a typical holiday rental villa as the owners clearly spent a long time there and equipped it to the high standard they required.
There are so many places to relax outside, roof terrace, first floor balcony, shaded area by pool, the pool or the patio at the front so you can get the sun all day long should you wish.
The villa is located in a very quiet area which has just gated villas and is set high up a hill to the east of Cannes. In fact the only noise is from grounds maintenance, strimmers, chainsaws, mowers etc. The views aren't bad, the villa misses out on a clear view of the coast apart from one spot where you can just see Cap d'Antibes. Some of the vistas are of the relatively unglamorous Vallauris with its tower blocks but there are enough other angles to choose from.
There is an Intermarche in Vallauris should you need to shop and I walked there and back though the route is very steep and indirect - as the crow flies it's near but due to the villa being on a steep hill you have to go to either side of the steep drop. We also went to Carrefour in Antibes but don't, it's crazy busy and the size of an aircraft hangar.
There is a bus from Vallauris to Cannes every 30-60 mins, our first attempt at catching this from Vallauris didn't go to well as the bus didn't show - it wasn't us as the locals were frustrated too. In the end we walked to Golf Juan and got a train to Nice instead, then train from Nice to Cannes and bus back from there.
Next time we got the bus at Col de St Antoine (the highest point between Cannes and Vallauris) rather than Vallauris centre as this involved a relatively flat and peaceful walk past all the villas of Super Cannes and saves a steep climb home from Vallauris (just watch the display on the roof of the bus to know where to get off).
Parking was easy in the grounds behind the electric gates, it's quite a steep ramp so low cars will ground their front spoilers.
Central heating was effective and no hot water issues though radiators were noisy and no way of turning off, we were shown a thermostat which even when on zero didn't stop the boiler. Luckily we had ear plugs.
We didn't use the pool but with the right weather it would be close to perfection as relatively private.
I'd stay there again but not sure I am in a rush to go back to the Riviera as it's quite a bit too hectic even in late March but you may well love it.

Management Response
4 Apr 2012
Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad that you really enjoyed your stay at Les Karias! I can only once again apology for the misunderstanding around the timing for the meet & greet and that you had to wait outside the villa when you first arrived. It was the first time this has happened.

If we ever have the pleasure to have you as guests again and for the benefit of other guests all I can say is - please do not hesitate to give us a call if you have questions or problems as we are often able to assist right away!

As an example, you mentioned difficulties with operating the alarm and central heating and a quick call would have allowed us to help you out immediately. We used to live there permanently and know the place inside out so any challenges you face we are likely to have tackled ourselves!!

Thanks again and hope to see you as guests again in the future!

“Perfect Location villa in the Cote D'Azure”

We recently stayed at Les Karias Villa (6 adults 2 children) the large villa was situated in a lovely quiet spot with views of the Alps and the sea. It is only 5 minutes drive to a local town, (Vallauris) which has all the shops and restaurants you need. Cannes is only 10 minutes away and very easy to drive to other resorts on the Cote D'Azure. The actual villa has a great pool and lovely outdoor seating areas (front and over looking pool) for eating, BBQ etc. Inside there is a fab kitchen with everything you can think of. The rooms are spacious and reminded me of a traditional French home, which we liked.I would highly recommend this villa as a base if you want a holiday in the South of France.
