“Yessss!”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

I was there in March, for Business. They welcomed me saying that they had a parking, but this was more expensive than the public one! The room was fantastic, top quality with balcony in front of the sea. This hotel is a Marriott, but it has a unique atmosphere and artists pictures everywhere. The staff is motivated and well, well, trained to deal with whatever request.
The quality of the food is high. You cross the road and enjoy the beach, or a beautiful running on the beach sidewalk. When booking, ask for their best price: if the hotel is not fully booked you might be positively surprised!

Room Tip: Negotiate your rate!

This hotel is in a great location. Couldn't be better. There were several pros and cons here.
Pros were the location, awe factor in lobby/bar, great rooftop area w pool, cleanliness, great staff and great bathrooms!
What could be a con? Hotel seems a little
Dated, but so awesome- you pass it by.
And concierge. They were doing their job, but all the other staff made up for it. Details: we are there (purposefully) for pyrotechnics of Bastille day. The dinner on the roof is 200euros a head. And after paying over 800 euros per night for a family of five to stay a few nights- the rooftop dinner to see fireworks at 200plus euros was a little over the top. Other staff kindly let us know that we could just go up to watch the display if there was "availability". Our "partial sea view" could barely see the sea... So we took our chances. Figured we would go out to the street if necessary. But, we had an awesome time- rooftop with seats at the last minute and saw the beautiful and awesome display. It was amazing. It was definently the place to be. We couldn't use the bar. That was closed for those paying for dinner. (Maybe next time we stay somewhere else and go there for dinner only?!) We paid a premium to be there- and with a larger family- wish they could have been more accommodating and helpful with what we were already paying to he there- but glad it worked out. If they could accommodate and be more helpful during such events- I would say a sure bet. But can't verify that given the business side of things to suck out more money for the event. We paid a lot to stay there for the event and were resentful that they seemed to push more gauging on us to see why we had already paid a premium.
Overall, a beautiful property- and many staff amazing. Hope the business side catches up to the people they seem dedicated to hire.

We stayed here for 5 nights and had 2 rooms. Both rooms were booked with garden view; they upgraded 1 of our rooms to partial ocean view. The garden view was “ok” with its view. The partial ocean view was much nicer although on the second floor. That said, we did not hear any street noise at night. I thought the room was a very good size and clean. I loved that the bathroom had separate stand up shower and separate bath tub; the phone in the bathroom was a nice touch!

I thought the location was perfect and yes the beach right across the street is private so you have to rent chairs/umbrella; think it is 18 euros per person. However about a block away is a public beach which my family thought was very nice for a couple of hour stay. Hotel not far walking distance from either the bus or train station. Also to take the boats to the islands.
Loved the roof top pool, slightly disappointed the jacuzzi was empty and no sign indicated when it would be back in use. I loved having a cup of coffee each morning on the rooftop and watching the Cannes beach “unfold” in the early morning hours. Wifi was somewhat sporadic on the rooftop but worked well in the rooms.

Breakfast was excellent. Buffet style and seating either indoor or outdoor at the JW Grill and a pleasant and filling way to start your day. Staff was quick to help out and very friendly.

Slight issue one day with room service getting a bucket of ice, never did show up. But when my husband forgot a razor within 10 minutes one was delivered to our room.

We were at the hotel during their firework festival which is held on certain dates in July and August. What an outstanding show choreographed to music. We stood at the beach to watch the 30 minute show and it was perfect. The hotel did have a rooftop dinner you could book to watch the fireworks but we thought the price was too much for the 4 of us. Highly recommend if you go in either July or August to see when the firework festival is scheduled.

Where I believe this hotel excels in is its staff. With each passing day I got to know them better and had quite a delightful time conversing with them. From the front desk to the hostess at the JW Grill to the bartenders – they sincerely were interesting in helping me out however they could and having pleasant talks.. I had purchased a flower bouquet to give as a gift to some friends of ours and the staff was quick to get me a bucket with water so that it would remain fresh.
If you get a chance have a rose wine with Kir (pamplemousse – grapefruit in French) at the JW Grill bar area. What a delightful and refreshing drink.

A special thank you to the concierge who not only helped direct us to train station, restaurants and overall information but was extremely helpful in securing a dentist for me on a Saturday morning. Seems as though Friday night I cracked a tooth while eating dinner and by 10AM the next day the concierge had arranged for me to see a dentist just 5 minutes away. Very nice that a dentist would open up his practice on a Saturday morning especially since we were leaving that day for Aix en Provence.

Overall I recommend the JW Marriott in Cannes. It was 100 euros for the 4 of us to take a taxi from Nice Airport to JW Marriott.

On a side note: We had an outstanding dinner at L’Aissette Provencale (located on 9 Quai Saint Pierre) and was only 24 euro for the fixed price menu.

Room Tip: Partial ocean view was nice; maybe on a higher floor level would be even better.

JW marriott hotel:
1-very good location ..in front of Baoli beach.
2-they dont have their private beach as other hotels(majestic barrier) in the same lane..
3-very nice and helpful hotel staff.
4-JW GRILL staff not so much welcoming.
5-NO free W-fi :/

IMPORTANT TIPS FOR CANNES( first timers)
1-if possible stay at street of BAOLI BEACH.
2-saint tropez itself needs a whole day.
3-there are mercedes n range-rover taxis..super costly.

Based on some of the other reviews, I was afraid to stay here. But, as a fairly loyal Gold level guest I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. I did not find any of the previously mentioned intrusive staff, in fact I found a very capable front desk and front bar staff with strong English skills and very interested in making sure our stay was pleasant. The hotel has a fantastic location, right in the center of all the action. The rooms are very pleasant, clean, and of nice size. They are also very well appointed and stylish. Breakfast is included and was substantial - fresh fruit, eggs, meats, bread [it is France], and vegetables. Breakfast is served on an outdoor dining plaza that overlooks all the action. I would certainly stay here again and have recently recommended to some friends that they consider the property.

Room Tip: Try to get a water front room - fantastic views

Two days at the Marriott have been very enjoyable, the hotel is stylish, modern, elegant and comfortable, although there's not much more than the room, the lobby, the restaurant and the beach. A spa is definitely missing. Rooms are well furnished, on current Marriott standards, beds are comfortable, bathroom not large but sufficiently spacious. Rooftop pool was closed so we were offered complimentary seats at the beach, one of the nicest establishments in Cannes. Location on the croisette is optimal. They have the loveliest beachfront terrace bar in town, but be ready to wait indefinitely to be seated and to get food. I would definitely go back for a drink, but I would avoid their food, terrible, and soooo slow. On the other hand, breakfast in the room was very good. Staff were always friendly. Overall, a pleasant stay, the Marriott is one of the best properties we've stayed in Cannes.

This hotel is all about location and its more or less perfect location. Staff was very friendly but extremely slow and you never have the feeling that you are in 5 star hotel. But good breakfast ( as with most Marriotts ) plus great view from the restaurant and as always great beds and clean rooms. Would we come back? Well we would not mind but would rather test some of the other 5 stars on La Croisette
