“Becareful, don't complain about the food bcoz the chef might come out and throw the overlooked steak in your face”
Reviewed 4 July 2013

We went for dinner, all the old town was completely full and this restaurant was the only one with empty tables. We expected the food to be less than okay but we settled. I ordered my steak medium. It came out medium well, closer to well done. I told the waiter that it was overlooked. He gave me attitude and went bak to the chef who got it back to me burnt. After he got it, I told him that i dont want it anymore. So the chef came out with his burnt steak screaming at me at the top of his lungs with absolutely no respect for anyone. He said that he's been cooking for 25 years. It's wierd when someone cooks for 25 years and gives u a soggy and tasteless onion soup, and then an overbooked steak, and after all that, he comes out screaming with the plate in his hand. No wonder it was the only empty restaurant in the old town. Apparently the chef is also the owner. A simple comment of an overcooked steak ruined our entire evening. We all left the table, and he had the nerve to charge us for the full menu, which we did not even continue.

“Delicious!”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

We stumbled upon this place while walking through the narrow streets of Cannes. Alot of the other restaurants required reservations. The hostess gave us a free appertif when we sat, I was pregnant so wasn't drinking so the bartender made me a special 'mocktail' which was extremely nice of them. They were so caring and loved what they did. The food was delicious and the desserts were super scrumptious. Being pregnant I wasnt feeling the greatest so they packed up the rest of my dinner and dessert for take-away so that we could leave. Overall, a wonderful experience!
Seating is a little crammed, but take a look at any restaurant in Cote d'azur, they are all crammed!

“So good we went back for more!”
Reviewed 9 May 2013

We visited this restaurant as a party of two couples at the beginning of our holiday and were so delighted with the quality of food and service that we went back two evenings later. The very pleasant and attentive staff not only remembered us, but also which night we had last visited and what we had each ordered! The quality of the food is excellent and our dishes were cooked exactly as ordered. The three courseTable d'Hote menu is good value (it is Cannes, after all) and there is good choice. (We didn't order wine as, typically for the area, it is overpriced so we settled for a small beer at 4.50 Euros each). The food is very well presented with great attention to detail. Service is excellent and nothing too much trouble. Definitely worth a visit.

“Good Restaurant - Pleasant Attentive Staff - Lovely Food”
Reviewed 5 May 2013

We are at present staying in Le Suquet and wandered down the hill to the beach at the bottom, looking at all the restaurants on the way. We decided to return and eat here because it was a little cheaper (a couple of Euros) and the staff were very pleasant when they spoke to us on our way down the hill.
We are really glad we did choose Poivre et Sal as the meal was excellent! The starters were excellent - three of us had French Onion Soup and the other the fish soup. The main courses were just as good - two having Lamb Ribs (chops); one the Steak and the other the Fish dish. They were served with plenty of vegetables and Dauphinoise potatoes and were nice and hot. Deserts didn't disappoint either with three of us having Creme Brulee and my Husband had ice cream. We had the three course set menu for 21.90 Euros and it was well worth it. Would recommend it to anyone visiting this area.

“very friendly staff, good food”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

we chose this place to eat, simply because it was a little bit cheaper ( just a few euros) than the others. the staff were very nice, trying to make us feel at home and they managed. the food was also very good, the staff made clear explanations of what we order, so there was no classical french suprise on the plate. overall we were very happy. the only drawback is that we had to wait a lot after the main dish for the desert, simply because there are just 2 staff. still they did their best to manage with all the tables.
