“one saving grace - great location”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

This hotel is perfectly located for the Palais. All else is quite poor. The communal spaces are dated and shabby. Paint is chipping, decor is tired and needs refreshing. The bedrooms are small overcrowded and lack any personality or charm. A small balcony with plastic furniture. The terrace for breakfast is pleasant with a good selection. For festival season the rates are extortionate for what is an unexceptional, joyless and plain hotel. I found the staff to be unhelpful when checking out and I needed a taxi, they were discourteous and dismissive verging on rude.

I love this place and am shocked it is not ranked higher.

We did not want to stay by the croissete (we don't travel to see Chanel, Dior and Ferraris...). But we wanted to be walking distance to it. I literally found this hotel by google walking!!!

Right on the port, between the cute little old town and Croisette.

The Port was so pleasant and unlike the one in Nice. Very lively, tons of people, lovely huge square with fountains and pétanque courts. (boules?)
The square is lined with cafes and has a view of the casino.

The hotel fronts to the port and square and back to adorable shopping streets.

The rooms with balconies and views of the port with gorgeous yachts are a must!

Service was also good and room clean and a decent size.

Splendid was recommended by a friend resident in Cannes and we were very happy with our 2 night stay June 2014 in this lovely hotel. The hotel owner and staff were a delight and very accommodating. The location is excellent, on the seaside and close to everything including the old town. THE hotel itself has a rare class about it which we enjoyed throughout our stay. When back to Cannes we will stay at this hotel.

We turned up here on a very crowded Sunday afternoon and our immediate reaction was not great. The sat nav had taken us through the back streets of cannes and the hotel frontage was not quite what we expected. The hotel looks a little tired from the outside and in the lobby however the receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. I had emailed ahead to request a sea view room with balcony and that's exactly what we got. Fifth floor of the hotel with a stunning view of the marina.
This is not the most up to date hotel we have stayed in but it has a great deal of old world charm about it. The room was large and the two patio doors we felt safe enough to leave open at night even though it is quite noisy being near a main road. The location of the hotel is perfect, within an easy walk of lots of restaurants and shops and a small public beach which was free.
One recommendation....don't waste money on the private beach clubs, unless you want to be squashed in like sardines. Just ask at reception and you'll be given a hotel bag with beach towels and enjoy the free beach, much nicer.
Good places for breakfast up around the market (cheaper than the hotel) or in New York cafe which is directly below the hotel. Excellent meals here too.
A lovely place that we will return to

Room Tip: A sea view is a must and ask for a balcony. Morning tea and coffee on balcony.......lovely

take a hotel room facing the sea with a balcony - and you can enjoy the view over the old harbor. Hotel staff friendly - breakfast is nice and with big variety. You have to like an old hotel with lots of class. Will come again.

Stayed here in July 2013 for 5 nights & my only complaint is that it wasn't for longer! It is perfectly situated in the heart of Cannes with a view over the marina and Ocean to die for.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly. & polite. Breakfast was served on the beautiful terrace in the sun & was fantastic.
Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anybody wanting to relax with beautiful views over the med!

Room Tip: Request a room with sea views
