“A pleasure to stay”
Reviewed 24 November 2010

We managed to get a sea view room with balcony which made a great difference to our stay. All the hotels along the Cannes coast offer a range of prices to match the view/non-view. There is city view (this is of the side of the building along the street), mountain view (sight of all the buildings that are built on the mountain). Sea view does not always mean you get a "full on" view, I recommend asking to see the room before you take all your luggage up.

The room was the best thing, the bed & pillows were huge and comfy, the decor was glamorous and modern.

You could certainly rack up a huge bill on top of the room rate. They charge extra for most things, 24 euros for 1 movie, 31 euros for a movie package, 15 euros per person for any room service meal (this is on top of the meal cost), 15 euros for the use of the internet for 1 day, charge for the sauna etc etc

We did use the movie package this gave us unlimited "new release" movies for about 18 hours. It worked out OK but we were happy to find out that Dubai TV had lots of free movies in English.

The buffet breakfast is definitely worth getting up for.

Very impressive hotel. Stayed for 4 nights with partner. Hotel is well located - walking distance to the port for the Lerin islands, Suquet, SNCF, various casinos and bus stations (#210 express service to and from Nice Airport-45mins). All the top end shops - Gucci, LV, Prada etc were just outside the hotel. It is also just a few minutes away from the Palais des Festivals where the Cannes Festival is held.
The lobby is very grand looking, very luxurious. The room (superior double) was a decent size, with a balcony and flat screen TV - France 24 was great for keeping up with news in English. We had a few nice surprises too - the room is cleaned twice a day, and there was a shutter which totally shut out all the light from outside... we didn't realise it was down, and slept until midday! All the staff we met were super friendly but we steered away from the private beach restaurant due to the bad reviews, so didn't find out what it was like for ourselves. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to use the in house gym facilities, but the shower experience looked pretty good, there is a charge though - I think it was c.€15.
The only mini let downs were: no iron/ironing board, although they do have an ironing service (prob for a charge), no kettle/tea/coffee facilties, vanity set not always replenished so we were short of cotton pads/buds. Other than that, we couldn't fault our stay really.
Lastly, we ordered a dinner on room service and the meal was wheeled in with rose in vase, we were really, very impressed with the standard.

had a four night stay here in Aug 2010. Great location in Cannes which was buzzing at the end of August. Had a partial sea view room (good description) across the road from the Palais des festivals (the red carpet) .

Service was really good and on the ball although the hotel was busier than I expected. Amenities are great. you are in the centre of the action in Cannes but can avoid the crowds and hang out at the Pool o rthe small bar overlooking la Croisette. Breakfast was well presented and staff very attentive.

The fitness centre is small but well positioned and well presented with great knowledgeable staff.

Also quite a few kids at the hotel which surprised me initially as i hadn't expected i to be a kids friendly hotel. Overall i thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Only downside is that you are in the Centre of a very busy holiday town and the people and road noise is quite high even with the electronic blinds down. Also , you pay alot for anything extra including using the fitness centre or towels at the beach (which would normally be included at a hotel anywhere else in the world.

Excellent location, nice old style luxury hotel with good restaurants and a nice bar (with good attention from the barman). On the other hand we also experienced some inconveniences. The valet and bellboy service was very slow and disorganized. The checkout line was 20 minutes long then we asked for our car and it took 45 minutes to get it. Incredible.

But the worst thing was trying to have lunch at their (informal) restaurant on the beach called B-Sud. We went there late (3:00 PM) on a Saturday afternoon without a reservation... we never thought we needed a reservation, it was not the Fouquet's or the Pettite Maison. Big mistake: We walked there and a very rude hostess asked for our reservation, we said we were guests of the hotel and that we thought we did not needed one. She said it was impossible to get a table with out planning well in advance, but the fact was that there were many tables empty, we counted more than five. I went back to the hotel and explained the concierge what happened and the rudeness of the hostess. The concierge apologized and called the restaurant and he told us that we could go there now and have lunch. When we got there again we where treated without any respect from the same lady. She was very angry with us because we complained; she went to the extreme to REFUSE and honor the reservation that the concierge just granted us! She seemed very determined, she did not wanted us there at any price. She offered to "grant us permission" for Sunday... I almost lost my temper, then demanded me to point her where did we wanted to be seated and again and again said rudely that the restaurant was full. I pointed one of the many empty tables which she rejected because according to her it was reserved. I went to the other annex on the same restaurant and saw 4 or 5 more empty tables and spoke with another employee, maybe the restaurant manager and I complained again. He apologized, maybe not honestly but at the end we were able to have a simple lunch on their least informal restaurant at the beach. I do not know why did we got this kind of treatment. It was very disappointing.

We stayed in the hotel recently and thouroughly enjoyed it. We reserved a Deluxe room with sea view and were happy to get a spacious room with a beautiful view from the balcony. The hotel is in a great location.

We were glad to have the private beach. Both the equipment and service was good. And unlike the public beaches, it was uncrowded. My only complaint is that charging extra for the private beach, swimming pool and other things, on top of high enough room rates, really made us feel like we were being nickle and dimed.

The helpful and professional staff making it worthy of a luxury hotel. We would definitely like to stay here again.

Just returned from 10 nights spent on the French and Italian Rivieras. The first 6 nights my wife and I stayed at the Majestic in Cannes. The Majestic is a beautiful, elegant hotel but it was sort of a mixed bag for us. When we arrived after travelling15 hours from the states we were informed they could not find our reservation. This obviously was extremely frustrating especially since we had prepaid the room. The staff asked us to be patient (who wants to be patient after travelling so far and mssing a nights sleep), we gave them 5 minutes before we demanded to speak to a manager at which point they found our room. Upon arriving in our room we were disapointed to see it was the size of a broom closet. Yes it had a large, comfortable bed and a big bathroom and closet, but the room itself you could not walk around the bed without squeezing by the minibar. Unfortunately we were so tired we let it slide and the bed was so comfortable ultimately we didn't care. Some of the things we did like about the hotel were the concierge staff who were very helpful in making us dinner reservations and provided directions on the sights we wanted to see. I will caution you though all their recommendations were on the pricey side (the very pricey side!) Cannes as a rule is extremely expensive but we did not get one recommendation for a moderately price meal even when we asked for a "casual" place. We really couldn't complain though because all their dinner choices were excellent dining experiences, we loved Baioli, Tetou, Keller Plage and the Annex. We also found the beach at the hotel to be very nice but at 36 euros a person to use it should be. We really did enjoy sitting out on the end of their pontoon and being treated with excellent service from their staff. They also have a very nice restaurant for lunch at their private beach which like all the beach clubs is across the street from the hotel. Some of the other smaller frustrations was having a charge to use their pool, no afforable breakfast at the hotel, 30+ euro buffet or nothing and 40+ Euros to park your car every night. Overall I would consider staying there again but would have to check out the Carleton and Martinez first to see if all there policies on upcharging everything are the same.

First I would like to thank you for the time you took to share your feedback about your stay in Majestic Barrière, Cannes.

Your comments regarding the room size have duly been noted
Majestic Barrière is an historic building built in 1926. Rooms are thus very different in size. Classic and superior rooms are between 28 and 42 square meters, suites from 45 to 650 square meters

Access to the pool is definitely free of charge. Only the use of mattresses is chargeable due to the very limited number of sunbeds available.

We are pleased to read that you had great time in Cannes and in Majestic.
Looking forward of welcoming you again,

sincerely,

Emmanuel CAUX

The Majestic is a very beautiful hotel in a great location if you are looking to go to Cannes.
The rooms facing the Med. are very nice and very pricey in season. The first room I was given was not great, bathroom tile was mildewed and the toilet kept running even after it was fixed. I did get changed to a better room and had no problems.
I chose a plan that included breakfast and it was average at best, certainly not worthy of a five star hotel. I was given resistance but got off of the breakfast plan as soon as I could.

Nothing is included and the charge to sit in on the crowded beach (chair after chair) is almost $60 per person.
If you decide you would rather sit at the pool they charge you again the same amount, unfortunately there is literally no other place to sit or even stand without renting a chair. The television has 17 channels in Arabic and maybe 3 in English. Movie rentals are about $50. I guess some people don't mind the prices when they are on vacation but I felt it was a rip.
The airport car rentals are much less expensive than renting in Cannes but you will pay about $50 a night for parking at the hotel, plus tips of course.
They have a new spa but when you see the exorbitant prices you will wait to get back to the States !
I loved walking by the sea at night and found it all very pretty. I had been to the Majestic ten years ago and nothing has changed in Cannes.....which is cool !
P.S. Internet is also expensive as is using the computer in the business center
