The Sun Riviera Hotel was one of three available on our Newmarket holiday to Cannes and the French Riviera. We chose the most expensive which turned out to be the best. The room was perfect with every facility apart from tea and coffee facilities, but we were forewarned and took our own kettle. There was a balcony overlooking the garden and swimming pool and it was so quiet away from the road. The staff members spoke good English and were friendly and courteous.
But there was no bar and no restaurant although this wasn’t a problem for us. We dined out which is all part of the holiday experience. A three-course meal cost from 20-30 Euros which is not bad when you consider where you are. But wine and beer are so expensive – a killer!
Our only complaint was the meagre breakfast – the minimum continental. There were no cold meats or cheese slices – just the usual pastries, although you could order an omelette that cost 5 Euros.
The hotel is a 15-min walk to the old town centre (but 5 min from the beach) which was okay and meant we were away from the bustle. The other two hotels were near the centre and not so secluded. Some of our older people didn’t always fancy the walk and would have liked to dine at the hotel. There were several restaurants close by but not where the action is.
The hotel was quiet and restful. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Room Tip: Overlook the garden

The hotel is on the main shopping street and only minutes away from the beach, with several restaurants and supermarkets close by, and the station is a 10 minute stroll. Stayed in a room overlooking the street and it was quiet at night. Room was good but shower a bit dated. The rooms at the rear seem better as they have small balconies overlooking the pool and gardens. We were lucky to have an uprated breakfast as we were with a tour group, but the standard breakfast did look a bit sparse, with no cheese or meat that you would expect on the continent. Staff were all pleasant and helpful, especially when we had an extremely early start on departure. Would definitely stay there again. Recommend getting about on the trains and buses which run on time, are cheap, and have helpful staff.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back of the hotel

Here is the thing with this hotel, for somewhat a similar price you can stay at other real 4 star hotels with much better reviews, but at the end it was acceptable.

However some negative points at:

- the shower was broken, fell to the floor and it was only untill the nex day that they could fix it (and i could have fixed it better than what they did).
- rooms had some dust, taking away the sense of a really clean room, even though it wasnt that bad.

Some positive point:
- nice location by a very nice street full of fancy stores.
- 7 min walk to the beach at the heart of the city
- staff was nice

Just returned from a week the Sun Riviera. We had a lovely room overlooking the garden. Unlike many hotels there was plenty of storage space. The room was very clean. We were pleased to find that the WiFi was free & easy to access.Beds were extremely comfortable. We found the staff polite & helpful & many spoke better English than our efforts at French. We note some earlier reviews mention the air conditioning not working - it was working well in our room. As some one else has said - we were pleased to have breakfast included in our deal, as although it is very nice it is certainly not worth 16 Euros! Would certainly stay again provided breakfast was included.

Room Tip: Rooms as the back are quieter & overlook the garden rather than the street.

Overall, my wife and I had a reasonable stay. The hotel was good and following a long day out provided the basic things we needed. However, the hotel itself is quite dated, the front desk staff were not really helpful about the nearby area, and its quite a walk from old town/key restaurant area.
