We were a group of 18 (4 families) staying between 5 and 7 nights in the Carlton. We had one 2 bedroom suite and 5 double rooms altogether. It was our second group stay in Cannes.

First of all it is to say that the Carlton building from outside is the nicest one of all beachfront properties in my opinion. Its location is great, and the beach part belonging to the Hotel is just over the boulevard (called la Croisette). Also, the Hotel has a great name and reputation, because of its tradition (built 1911) and as it was used by many actors throughout the years of the Cannes Film Festivals. And the breakfast on the terrace overlooking the ocean is really great, also the Lobby, you get a feeling of how wealthy people lived their holidays 100 years ago.

But here the problems start. Seeing the prices of at least 500 USD per room per night in the Ramadan season (less Middle East customers, today the prices are even higher), you, of course, expect a truly 5-star experience. But unfortunately it was not, not at all.

The main problem is the building from inside. It is really old, no real refurbishments were made. But also little things like the furniture, the sockets and worst of all the sanitary installations were horrible. Throughout the whole stay, which costed myself 5.000 USD for my family for 5 nights, I had not even ONE TIME a proper temperature in the shower (which you use a few times a day because of the beach). It was constantly changing, in our floor (2nd) rather too cold, while some other members of our group, who stayed in the 4th and 5th floor, had to deal with cooking hot water in their showers.

The second problem: the management and the service. Of course, we did not expect to be treated like the celebrities they have as guests, but you really do not get the feeling of being an appreciated hotel guest. Too arrogant in our opinion. Front desk was ok, but all the rest, starting from a terrible telephone system, not being connected, not being able to note orders, not delivering the laudry in adequate time and most important quality, not (!) changing the bed linen daily, even though big spots were on the blanket (see picture), not having a good internet connection in the room, maids making loud private phone calls in the corridor at 11.30 PM etc. The Duty manager apologized, but did not take any measures, nothing.
And this for 12 Euros per bottle of water, 14 Euros for laundry of a shirt and 24 Euros per day for Internet services!

Of course it is Cannes, it is holidays, but all of us are frequent travellers, staying most of the time in 5 star properties, Carlton Cannes is definitely NOT 5 star (last year some of us stayed in JW Marriot next door, similar prices, but 5 star experience).

Conclusion: The Carlton has a great name, location and property from outside. But the management is poor and not at all capitalizing on these advantages. The prices do not match with the value. On the contrary, the Carlton´s attitude was the only sour flaw in a great holiday we had in Cannes.

Nevertheless, if you want to experience it, without having the headache, just book a dinner on the terrace.

We were excited of staying at the world-renowned Carlton of Cannes, but the experience was really bad.
We had planned to sleep there 4 nights, but after seeing the room and asking for an upgrade (which was proposed only paying an extra of € 190/night), we decided to move to the adjacent JW Marriott.
The room was really small, the 'city view' was on a dirty backyard/parking lot, the bathroom was incredibly small and poorly furnished, maybe it was like a 3-star bathroom, nothing more (pictures attached).
I think the whole hotel needs a total refurbishment.
Moreover, the lack of a pool is really an incredible feature: I hadn't even checked on the website, I took the pool for granted!
And there was no place for us at the hotel-front beach, by the way.
Final surprise: for a total expense of around € 450 (one night plus parking), my credit card was asked for a locking authorization of € 2,000! Which, ten days later, they still had no idea how to unlock. I had to call my credit card company and put in place a security procedure, otherwise I couldn't use any more my own credit card.
Positive aspects: the free Wi-Fi in the lobby and the gluten-free bread for my fiancée (asked via e-mail in advance).

Enjoyed every second of my stay at this location, even though it doesn't have the freshest look in the rooms. Upon arrival I was amazed with a column of latest Lamborghini cars parked infront of the hotel. Check in was quick and seemed of a five star location. The rooms are made to look classical and old, that's not my taste though. The room was a partial Sea View. Just over the street, you can enjoy the private beach with water sports off all kinds. The breakfast choice is amazing and there's nothing better than a morning view of Cannes waking up. Their parking was overloaded, so I had to park at the JW Marriott location, which was a three minute away, the parking spots would just perfectly fit a renterd Opel Astra, nothing bigger. The only problem are the prices, booked weeks ahead and still a doublebed room was well over the usual Intercontinental rate.

Went to the Carlton Cannes Hotel for my 50th birthday. Check-in was fast, hotel has classic charm, service was unbelievably good. No dinner reservation on my birthday-no problem. Upgrade to oceanfront room. Needed medicine- they went to the pharmacy for us. Lobby lounge elegant yet comfortable. Fireworks display- awesome! Beach - exclusive and cozy. Expensive-yes, but we knew that going in. Well done Carlton Cannes- your staff is the best!

During our trip in the south of France we spent a night in the Carlton Cannes.
A versaille style Hotel very well maintained.
We were upgraded to a room with a sea view (platinum member).
The Hotel is very well situated in Cannes and a walking distance from all major attractions.
The hotel is pricey but still in the range of this category of Hotels.
