This hotel is not only a jewel on the French Riviera, but the whole stay experience is just above all expectations. My partner booked us a room with sea view and for the 950 euros he paid per night, the five day stay was outstanding. The room we booked was spacious and decorated in gold, while the bathroom was massive. The view from our balcony overlooked the Mediterranean Sea and every morning we used to wake up and admire this sight. The hotel in general does offer a glamorous atmosphere with views of the Croisette Avenue. We tried the hotel restaurant and the bars, both offering a welcoming experience. Due to the autumn period, we did not manage to enjoy the beach restaurant, which must be another divine experience.

This is a one of the true grand dame’s of the hotel world, think Greta Garbo.

As it is reportedly the case with some dames, this dame could do with some “nip and tuck” especially in the bedroom area. The dame celebrates its 100th birthday in a few years. If she would be British, she might even get a telegram from the Queen.

On a more serious note: the hotel itself is simply gorgeous, reservation and front desk staff are super efficient and the lobby has a glamorous feel. Once you enter through the revolving doors past the cruise ship tourist taking posing pictures you know you have arrived.
The rooms feel old fashioned and are a little faded, but the L’Occitane bathroom amenities help to make up for it.
Spoil yourself and get a full sea view room with balcony on the top floor and enjoy the fantastic vista. Be warned though – it will cost you.

Unfortunately this hotel is let down by its poor breakfast. This is France, the land of excellent food. Not so at the Carlton for breakfast. Euro38 per person gives you a small choice of almost cold hot-dishes and a very disappointing limited buffet selection. The breakfast does not compare favourably with most other InterContinentals, in-fact many prime location Holiday Inns have superior breakfast buffets.

Found the concierge service to be a bid “hit and miss”. My tip is: don’t rely on the Concierge calling you even if he promised to do so.

Comparing the Carlton with say the InterContinental Hong Kong: both are in a superb location, but the service, standard, food and all-over feel is superior in Hong Kong. Having said that – the Carlton has its eccentricities is a dame, whereas the hotel in Hong Kong is a young supermodel in comparison.

our family stayed at the Carlton on the occassion of our parents 50th wedding anniversary. We travelled from Ireland, England and Italy. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made feel very special and the management gave us room upgrades and my parents, a wonderful room with seaview, complimentary champagne and cake. The staff were superb, rooms were spacious, and all the luxuries you would expect to find in a hotel of it's class! Our breakfast was amazing with all the food and champagne you desired ! All in all, we were thrilled with our stay and it made the occassion even more special. Cannes was not as expensive as we were lead to believe. We would love to return in the future! Thank you to all the staff.

This was one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed at. The rooms were large and plush and the service at the hotel was top notch. The location of the hotel cannot be beat.

This hotel has very attentive staff. The lobby is opulent and immaculate. The location is a landmark in the south of France, because of its history and its fine beach facilities across La Croisette. Eating seafood at the beachside restaurant buffet before catching the TGV back to Paris is one of the memories that I will treasure for the rest of my life. The daily tariff isn't cheap by any means, but the quality service you receive is unmatched.
