“Highly recommended traditional hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2013

Iconic premises serving as the gateway to the Victorian development of Boulevard Carnot (its twin is across the road); just on the edge of the town centre and within easy walking distance. The family has modernised and restored it while retaining the traditional style. It's everything people say it is, really. Nice room, nice people, nice breakfast - (maybe that should be Cannes rather than Nice) actually one of the better continental breakfasts that we've had. It's a real find. And it offers a free bar early evening. Free WiFi that worked in the bedroom. Price very competitive at this time of year! Can't speak for peak season. And the 210 airport bus stops outside the door in the Place Vauban. What more do you want?

Room Tip: Ours was fine but they do have rooms with balconies in the Rotunda. Need to look at a picture to see...

When you are constantly on the move, you will always look for a hotel where you feel at home, treated well by the staff & getting friendly with them without them crossing the line.

When at Le Cavendish you feel that in addition to the warm of greeting you after a long time by your name, looking for your comfort & good stay.

A small dinning room, you get to know all residence at the breakfast time as you see the usual faces at the same time.

Relaxing in the afternoon for a glass of wine or a cold beer you just unwind from a long, busy & hectic working day.

Room Tip: Get your room on the side road with a balcony as you will need that to get the cool air in, rooms ar...

We decided on a 3 night stay in Cannes to get away from our hectic work routine. We'd seen this advert on TV about Secret Escapes, so we thought we'd give it a go. Le Cavendish came up at around 106 Euro per night and seemd very nice. On arrival, the lady in charge made us feel very welcome and was extreemely thorough in letting us know about the hotel etc. Our room was quite small as was the bathroom but it was very clean and tidy. Free drinks between 6pm and 9pm may be an attraction to some but it wasn't something we really cared about. The hotels location was very good, being 5 mins walk from anywehre near the sea front. The road works were absolutely not a problem. Breakfast was slightly limited but very good. I would certainly recommend staying here if in Cannes.

Hotel full of character and charm a wonderful find!! From the moment we walked through the door the staff were extremely friendly and helpful . We were met with a welcoming drink and a comprehensive overview of the area and amenities available. The room was lovely, a balcony with view of the locality and the housekeeping was faultless. The open bar was an opportunity to meet fellow guests from around the World in a relaxed atmosphere. Buffet breakfast was delicious and a calming start to the day!!
Would thoroughly recommend Le Cavendish Hotel without hesitation.

The location is great, very close to the train station and everything is within walking distance. The staff is professional and friendly. They responded to our needs with brisk efficiency and we liked their recommendation. The room is clean and has a relaxed ambience and the hotel has an antique charm and well maintained. My sister and I stayed there for 2 nights and very pleased with our stay. The staff makes you feel at ease from the minute you arrive at the hotel.

The service is first class and the charm of a turn of the last century hotel has been preserved while providing the amenities of this century. The bird cage elevator that runs up the center of the spiral staircase gives you a sample of the grandness of 19th Century luxury.

An example of the service: I had been on the road for ten days and was down to one change of clothing. I called down to ask where I could leave my laundry and within three minutes the front desk clerk was huffing at my door--I'm guessing she had run up the four flights. Now, the laundry service was expensive but couldn't be helped.

The continental breakfast was top notch--the best I had while on a month long tour of Europe. There is an open bar happy hour in the early evening. I did not take advantage of this--I wish I had--but the lounge area is comfortable and warm.

I stayed in one of the rotunda suites and while being costly the view from the wrap around balcony was worth the expense. Boulevard Sadi Carnot was being reconstructed while I was there that made the stay noisy--not the hotel's fault--but they said it would be completed by the end of October 2013.

When you check in, you are asked to sit at an antique desk and the clerk makes you feel at home while explaining the hotel's amenities and giving you pointers for your stay in Cannes. There is absolutely no hint of the legendary French arrogance with the staff and it seemed that they were doing their best to prove the stereotype wrong. I can't say that other places in Cannes were successful but Le Cavendish succeeded.

I plan on staying here the next time I visit.

Room Tip: The rotunda rooms are worth the extra expense. The mattress is extremely comfortable.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for your very nice comment. I like your conclusion on the fact that our staff is making the stereotype of french arrogance wrong ! Yes we are all french and yes we love welcoming guests and pampering them. And believe me , we know some restaurants in Cannes where the owners are as nice as we are at Le Cavendish. This is why it is very important to ask at reception for our tips in the city : these are our local adresses where we personally go and appreciate cuisine and service .
Looking forward to welcoming you back in Cannes . Final lay of asphalt on the Boulevard this week ! Roadworks are mostly completed for a superb entrance in Cannes .
