“A trendy hotel in a great location overlooking the sea and marina”
Reviewed 16 August 2012

We booked a late deal with a standard room, and upon arrival managed to negotiate a great deal upgrading to a Mediterranean Suite with Sea View. Consequently we were delighted with the 75+ sqm accommodation which was furnished to a very high standard with a stunning bedroom, living room and massive bathroom room with large separate shower, and double balcony. It was very tastefully and expensively furnished and designed, and included all the usual amenities you would expect including AC, WiFi, Satellite TV, Safe, Mini Bar, Hairdryer, Kettle, etc, etc were all included and available.

We really could not fault the suite and just a few minor details such as room service not refilling the coffee, sugar, and no milk meant that we had to ask reception on a daily basis for items. Also the light switches seemed incredibly complicated (it could have just been me!) but you have a choice of dimmed setting, partially on, fully on or off. Get up in the night though and just try turning the bathroom lights on and this clever lighting was not so helpful and it was either all or nothing to the annoyance of my nearest and dearest!

Our biggest two issues were firstly no pool is included, which is very unclear on the hotel information. There is one in the adjoining spa but only at a 25 Euro charge per head. Secondly and as pointed out by Jim K in an earlier review, was the noise on the 6th floor from the lively restaurant and bar on the 7th floor. Not an easy fix granted but I would suggest the hotel invest in sound proofing as there is quite alot of noise disturbance until the early hours.

Overall then it was very good and if you can get a deal do go for a suite as they are very impressive. Our advice is too enjoy 7th floor the rooftop restaurant and bar (although quite pricey and noisy with the live DJ!) and make sure breakfast is included as this would be 29 Euro per head! Also avoid the mini bar unless you are a lottery winner!

Room Tip: Go for a suite but negotiate hard!

Hotel employee charged me $2000 for a night I never booked or stayed at the hotel. Adding insult to injury, she charged me $2000 for 3 additional nights that (according to my hotel bill) should have cost $700 per night. I filed a complaint with my credit card company immediately. Even with all my proof of proper bill and airplane boarding passes, the credit company left the matter to be resolved by the hotel. The Blu 1835 promised to return the $2000, but never did. Needless to say I am devastated!!!! Never thought anything like this could happen....

Don't Let the facade of the building sway your first opinion, as it initially did mine. The interior spaces are extremely clean, beautiful, and welcoming. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and courteous. We had a wonderful check-in experience from the most wonderful Guest Relations woman named Rachel. She truly was the most hospitable person i've been in contact with from my many hotel experiences.
The rooms are on the small side, but it is Europe after all. Although, they were very cozy.

Room Tip: We had a top floor room, and thought we scored. Although, since the restaurant was directly above u...

Spent 4 nights in a Med suite with a sea view. Spacious, well furnished rooms. Very smart hotel but can be expensive unless you get a deal with breakfast included. Location is excellent for beaches and restaurants and watching the yachts in the harbour. They really need to address the noise from the roof top bar (7th floor) as the bass musicreverberated through to us on the 5 th floor until the early morning - for this price I expect to be able to sleep in the quiet.

We spent 2 nights and then moved to another hotel (Provence). Though the location is great (across the street from the beach) it doesn't worth the money. A lot of money. Our room was ok in terms of modern design and cleaniness but the view to the neighbor building made it a bit claustrophobic and totally over price for a 350€ per night rate. A good example of what we felt is the charge of 8€ (!!!) for a Mars bar from the minibar.
We stayed afterwards at hotel Provence and can conclude that you don't get value for your money at the Radisson Blu.

I was in Cannes for Lions Festival and stayed 3 nights at this hotel. The location was excellent, only 5 mins walk to the Palais and the beach was a few meters from the hotel.

The room was ok but given that I paid 400€ per night I was expecting a lot more. It was on the first floor, next to a loud street. It wasn't possible to keep the curtains open as people would have been able to stare inside my room. Free WiFi was nice and the rooftop terrace was great. Nice 360 view and expensive cocktails ;) The bed was great and had a really good sleep there.

To my amazement, at the check-in the desk implied that the breakfast was included and it wasn't a pleasant surprise to find out that I had to pay almost 100€ for a cup of coffee and yoghurt I had each morning.

Also, when the desk ordered me a airport taxi that accepts credit cards, turned out that they'd ordered me a regular one.

Next time when in Cannes, I'm sure I'm able to find something much more reasonable.

One of the newer hotels in Cannes, located at the Old Harbour. A nice design hotel with an amazing rooftop terrace complete with sunbeds. Very friendly service, good food and drinks.
Don't expect too much of the rooms which are rather small but the bed is wonderful, like lying in a feather nest! The Thalasso part is quite impressive, it's a long way to get there from inside the hotel and you easily get lost so it's better to go from outside... I took a Californian massage of 25min which cost 65€, pleasant but hurts in your wallet if you've been in Thailand where massages cost 5-10€ per hour... Minus is that there is no hotel pool, if you want to use the (seawater) pool with massage jets and jacuzzi you'll have to pay 25€ entrance fee. (sauna, hammam included).
In front of the hotel there is a public beach, no parasols or sunbeds though so no chance to be in the shadow.
