“Super Service and Staff - Breakfast Problem on Last Day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2013

The Suite Novotel Cannes Centre was the best hotel we have visited in the last 16 days in Europe.
Everyone at reception was great but specially Vanessa and Jose.
At breakfast the Directeur, Patrick Surault was there to greet everyone and even gave me a little French lesson.
Our initial room needed some work so we were given another and in much better condition.

Our breakfast in the initial two mornings at the Novotel was excellent.
A buffet of fruit, cereals, breads, cheeses, and meats gave us plenty to eat before we set out for our day in Cannes.
We talked to Vanessa and thanked her again for all of her help - the staff had been wonderful!

The one serious issue was the Sunday morning breakfast.
There were three large groups (over 40 people in two of them) and one of 17.
Following the over 100 people who had breakfast before 7:30 meant that much of the wonderful breakfast was not available.
They just ran out. And the staff trying to clean and restock was certainly understaffed.
This was a Breakfast disaster - unfortunately.
No fruit, coffee ran out and not replaced for 15 minutes. Much of everything else was late.
The staff ran to do all the chores and restock.
Our only other complaint was the lack of A/C - they had not transitioned to summer.
HEAT in common spaces was quite high - reception, breakfast, hallways and elevators.

Room Tip: Street in front of the hotel is noisy at night - till 2AM

Recently ended a 5 nights stay in Suite Novotel Cannes Centre. It was close to perfect. Ideal location: you can walk to nearly any place you want to from the hotel. The staff i s very helpful, the hotel itself (incl. the spacious rooms) seems to be new and very well decorated. Breakfast buffet is both healthy and delicious. I will come back again.

We stayed here over Easter weekend, the room price was very reasonable and the parking overnight was very cheap (only 8 Euro). The room was clean and furnishings well taken care of, this seems standard for the Suite Novotel chain. Front desk staff was friendly and even called to confirm we were ok with our room. Just be aware that it is a 15-20 minute walk to the downtown restaurant/shopping area and seaside. We were ok with this since we the rate was a lot lower and we enjoy walking. Overall great hotel for the value.

The hotel is centrally located, being equidistant to the beach and the motorway, and has a garage in the basement. It is an ideal location to use as a base to see the French Riviera by rental car. We stayed in this one hotel and ventured out to Antibes, Monaco, San Tropez, interior hill towns like St Paul de Vence and others. I wouldn't listen to the reviewers who say that the hotel is too distant from La Croisette and central Cannes for walking. If you can walk 4 or 5 blocks you can get to almost anything in town from here....and if you happen to stroll a little too far afield the short cab ride won't send you to the poorhouse. The room was well designed and had a separate shower with a huge bathtub and again a separate toilet room. The room included a couchette for my 14 year old daughter and so accommodated three.comfortably. The front desk staff was also multilingual and very genial. Okay thats the good stuff. Now for the bad... The room was poorly maintained and was not at all being cleaned thoroughly. Dust had accumulated in all of the seems of the carpet. The window shades were also broken and I had to rig various apparatus to get them to stay closed. As the front desk staff seemed so professional, I can only think that the maintenance and housekeeping manager is a different person who is totally falling at the job. Also, WARNING:, if you are utilizing the parking garage it is incredibly narrow and tight. I'm not kidding. I lived in Japan for 10 years and I am fully used to "miniature, yet functional", but this garage took things to a new level for me. Rent the smallest car you can find...You wouldn't want the side of your car to add anything to the walls and pillars of the garage.... which already look as colorful as any African flag! Finally, I can't say enough about the awful bread in the morning buffet (I guess they chose those hard, chewy rolls-don't think baguette, thinK hard rubber-with extended shelf life in mind....a cost saver). Inexcusable in a nation where such fine bread is available. All in all a great location, at a great value...just know the caveats...

Room Tip: Don't take the buffet unless it's a throw in.... Get a room on the interior courtyard if yo...

For families with two children, this hotel has to be one of the best values on the Riviera. We have stayed here three times, the first stay in 2007 and the last stay in 2012. This is not a luxury hotel. I'm not sure how they earned the fourth star, but it started as a three star hotel. The rooms are pre-fab, but large and sensibly constructed. We particularly like the bath separated from the WC, the small fridge, and the microwave. I almost always walk up the hill to the artisanal bakery for our breakfast croissants and bread, because the hotel breakfast is relatively expensive. (I miss the free coffee that used to be served in the lobby.) The thick windows keep out street noises. With beach gear, allow 15 minutes' walk to the public beaches at the Croisette. The parking house is narrow, and I try not to leave the garage too many times, but we've always found a space, and the daily parking rate is reasonable. We've had small problems over the years, but the staff, which I find quite friendly, always responded to our complaints and either fixed the problem or, as in 2012, offered us a different room. The air conditioning system appears to have reached its limit and is in need of an overhaul. I guess that would be my most important suggestion for improvement. Even though the kids are getting older, I suspect that we will be back again. Thanks for the memories.

Very nice hotel with a large room for families that can be divided separating kids and parents if you want. Clean rooms, good bathroom and a nice location in Cannes! You can shop around it and enjoy the city.
