“No frills- but great location and price - I recommend it!”
Reviewed 21 December 2010

I was on vacation with two friends. We did not spend much time in the room, so we didn't really have a need for a fancy hotel. We stayed in Nice, but visited many spots along the coast while vacationing. The hotel was the perfect location -- between the train station and the beach. Short walk to restaurants, shops, etc. In case you are vacationing with a larger grou - this was one of the few hotels that allow 5 people in a room . The staff wasn't super helpful - I think this was more because of a language barrier however. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not for you. But if you want an affordable hotel that is clean, convenient, and a good location - this is the hotel for you!

Really close to the train station, always someone on duty to welcome us, room was clean and cozy, great to have a balcony, free wifi, air conditioned, breakfast offered, efficient staff.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! This is the worst hotel I have ever experienced. They are very rude to you and will only let you check in during a small window. They act like theyre doing you a favor by letting you check in. The towels were disgusting and we had to ask them to replace them. Worst of all they yelled at me and made me more uncomfortable than I have ever felt. This is a mom and pop type of operation and they live in the hotel. They will creep up on you and be very invading. Be warned.

I managed to get a last minute booking at Little Palace Hotel for a brief visit to Cannes and only needed a basic room. I got a good rate, far below any other rate I had found after two days of seaching, and was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Rooms are tiny, for sure, and this was suppose to be a double bed but the room was very clean and had the exact basics that one would require just for a place to sleep. After all, how much time does one really spend in the hotel on short travels? The bathroom was also very small but completely clean. The room had a tiny balcony with view of the street which was a pleasant addition. All in all, it was a pleasant small room, enough for one person. Two people staying here would find it very cramped. This is not a hotel suitable for anyone with demands of service or space, but if all you look for is a clean, good room in a great location in Cannes, this hotel offers it.

The hotel is more of a boutique motel rather than a hotel. Its situated right next to the railway station which explains the cheaper rate (there were many hotels on the same street with competitive rates). But in spite of this the location is really not bad at all. The Little Palace Hotel is only about five blocks from the main promenade (beach) in Cannes!

I guess the only downside about the hotel would be the Dr Jekyl/Mr Hyde personality of the asian lady who seems to own the place. She is sweet and friendly one moment but is quick to go on the attack the next. A lot of passive aggression. I saw her do this to several customers although I managed to be free from it. I guess its quite typical asian and I've come across many who has this approach during travels but it was very rude and unecessary.

A minus with the actual room was that the TV does not offer more than about 4-5 channels and the A/C was not cooling down well. Because of the lowered room rate, I was not interested in complaining about these things to the front desk.

Having stayed in numerous hotels along the cote d'azur we were incredibly disappointed with this hotel. The hotel website did not provide a true reflection of what this hotel has to offer. The rooms were very small with few and limited facilities which you would expect as standard. For a double room we could hardly even move, it was so cramped and furthermore the bed was a z-bed, both the airconditioning and the sink continually leaked tirelessly throughout the day and night. The most disappointing aspect however was the management who were not only short, abrupt and totally unfriendly but very rude, making our stay in the hotel more stressful than relaxing. The only positive aspect is location but, after considering other hotels after our first night, we would strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

Rue du 24 Août is a street leading from the up-market Rue D'Antibes (a bit like London's Bond Street) to Rue Jean Jaures with the main railway station and is home to a number of cheap hotels. The Little Palace is a modest establishment that unlike most of the neighbouring places boasts air-conditioning, something that is essential in mid summer.

The room I stayed in was a bit on the small side but with a comfortable bed and everything was clean. Bathroom was also on the small side with a shower but no bath, however the shower worked well, which isn't always the case in cheap hotels. Note that the lift is rather cramped and takes one person and their luggage at a time.

Well located, it is just a couple of minutes walk to the sea front and about a five minute walk to the bus station to catch the airport bus to Nice and the main railway station is just across the road: so in the middle of everything really.

Cannes is an expensive location with a lot of ultra expensive hotels. There are cheap places if you look and I would recommend this one to anyone on a tight budget.

Stayed in Cannes October 2005.
I would recommend this to anyone staying in Cannes or the Cote d'Azur. Taccomodation is fantastic and the price makes it great value.

Only a minute walk from the train station (we travelled by train), but in a side street with other Hotels which makes this a very quiet place to stay. And it is also only minutes walk to the beach and town in a beautiful area.

The couple that run this place are so nice and friendly, the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Size is standard for Europe, and you get air con.

I hope to stay here again when travelling back to the Cote d'Azur.
